Pretty sure the Venn diagram of Project Runway contestants who canβt sew and people who think the slop they produce with GenAI is βartβ is one big, naked circle.

06.01.2026 20:54 β π 607 π 190 π¬ 6 π 13Yup. Radu Jude himself is opposed to the Sequoia funding, but his films are still on there. Iβm trying to support HIM rather than Mubi.
Re the names, itβs ridiculous. I remember being big mad when Mubi changed from The Auteurs. I hate tech nonsense names with a passion.
Mubi has a $1 a month for 3 months on right now, so theyβre only getting $3 from me while I finally see The Substance, Die My Love, etc. That said, itβs Tubi thatβs owned by Fox/Murdoch. I think Mubi is British-owned?

23.02.2026 01:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Best thing Iβve seen in awhile: Radu Judeβs Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World. WOW. Not shocked, given my big Romanian New Wave love affair back in the aughts. π½οΈ
(Got some more recent Romanian stuff catching up to do, @nmkennedy.bsky.social, clearly. Partly on Mubi nowadays for it.)
Super hoping this means the Boursin folk will start shipping their dairy-free version up to Canada again. π€

Iβve also been comparing AI to asbestos and radiumβtechnology that had a bunch of benefits but then turned out to be deadly. The only difference is we already KNOW AI is killing people and theyβre shoving it into everything anyway

19.02.2026 20:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hated fish, tofu n eggplant in my youth bc they were prepared by inept cooks. Fortunately, this was rectified in my 20s and theyβve since been among my favourtie foods.
Alas, only recently did I finally get on the polenta train for the same avoidable reason. Damn your eyes, inept cooks!
One of the frustrating things about βmainstreamβ reporting on these right-wing alt-media outlets is they describe them as βpartisanβ or assume theyβre trying to get Poilievre elected
If you actually listen to them, they tell you exactly what theyβre trying to do β namely normalize extremist ideas:
Jivani is a big reason I held my nose and voted Lib last election. He would have likely been minister of justice had PP won. That thought terrified me (and still does).

Finally watched Saltburn because Disk Horse.
The people who think the bathtub scene was just there for empty shock value need a robust lesson in semiotics. And primogeniture.
Like, cβmon.
Do the rescuers get three wishes now, or does one of them end up with a beautiful post-metamorphosis, post-curse groom or bride? apnews.com/article/germ...

14.02.2026 00:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The last AI discourse was AI boosters claiming not using AI was classist and ableist, artists were the ones with the power and privilege, historical disabled artists werenβt βactuallyβ disabled, and so forth
