Kyodo reports that the LDP, now equipped with the largest majority in the postwar period, has requested that every committee chair and review board chair position in the Diet be filled by one of their own www.47news.jp/13857838.html

12.02.2026 06:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The LDP also experienced landslide victories under Koizumi in 2005 (where 83 first-timers were elected) and under Abe 2.0 in 2012 (where there were 119 newbies)
These Koizumi and Abe “Children”, even with faction training, often made faux pas and scandals
So there’s nervousness within the party
LDP now has 66 first-time lawmakers on their hands
Previously, the party outsourced newbie training to factions
But the factions (bar Aso) have been dissolved, so the party has to quickly build their own central training programme
And they need to hire aides too

In Kyodo’s first post-election poll, when asked whether the LDP nominating candidates implicated in the slush fund was appropriate, 60.2% answered “inappropriate”
43 out of 45 such candidates won their races on Sunday
Support for LDP is now at 40.8%, down from 43.7%

RFK, jr. is the worst person you ever met at a party in california, patel is the worst guy you ever encountered at the gym, bondi is the worst person you ever met at church, bessent is the worst person you have ever met at a conference, all these people are the worst versions of every stereotype

Whether Mirai is a centre party is debatable
They’re neither for nor against separate surnames or same sex marriage (so de facto for the status quo where they’re both unrecognised), they’re for constitutional revision and voted for Takaichi’s supplementary budget
But they deny left-right divide
In JNN’s most recent poll, published today, people were asked which party they intend to vote for in the proportion representation side of the Lower House elections
Only 4% of the under-30s demographic answered with a left or centre party (CRA, Reiwa and SDP each had less than 1%; Mirai 1%; JCP 3%)

Because they were reporting policies Sanseito and Hoshuto were running on
Which is why Romeo stressed the media‘s role and responsibility in his Chihei piece bsky.app/profile/rmar...
As Mark Winchester @archerknewsmit.bsky.social has noted, “foreigner problem” and “foreigner policy” are terms that have come into currency only in the past year
Nakano Kōichi ran a search on Asahi Shimbun database and saw such terms had no or only single digit hits until 2024, but 3 digits in 2025

At one point Tamaki grilled Takaichi over whether the sales tax cut for businesses will be by zero-rating or by exemption
And the wife went “poor Ms. Takaichi, being treated like that”
Yamamoto Tarō is arguably the most famous unvaxxed politician in Japan (he’s personally against the covid vaccines, though not against all vaccines)
But the party’s position is people should be able to choose to be vaxxed or not, so employers shouldn’t require it
What he does is MoF conspiracy
Jeffrey Hall @mrjeffu.bsky.social is currently researching this topic and will have an article out next year I think

This was because Reiwa supporters already overlapped with Sanseito in their affinity for anti-vax, conspiracy theories, organic foods, etc.
