Snowdrops aren't native, but it's pretty nice to have something flowering here mid-March.

Today's random passage from Le Guin's interpretation of the Dao De Jing, presented without commentary for reflection:

And, liberals, you are very guilty of seeing all your opponents as bad, corrupt, and evil. The people in the US have all been played against each other. Stop this.

I do think we have a few actual evil people in the arena now, but the general population is not and has never been.

Excerpt from Rosenberg's "Nonviolent Communication." Tldr, our society's focus on good and bad, innate sin, and punishment makes us more passive and more easily controlled by an authoritarian government. Read on to learn how to break out of that.

Everyone, please read this book.

We're still prepaid members for a few months, but we've stopped it from renewing and are working on other sources for things as well now. So far so good.

I wasn'tgoing to watch anyway, as I'm not into football, so it felt like less of a protest. And agreed about the halftime show, which we did watch. With a note that I did also watch the puppy bowl; highly recommend.

As applicable today as it was then.

Resist and obstruct the actions, yes; but try to understand and relate to the people.

Are you disappointed in the state of things around you, socially and/or politically? You're here on bluesky, so yes, you are.

Pleasr read Marshall Rosenberg's book "Nonviolent Communication."

If we know each other, I'll buy you a copy, just ask. Or I'm sure your library has it.

We shouldn't be ignorant to what is happening, but we shouldn't fall victim to the flood the zone approach.

Go volunteer in a forest preserve. Read a book. Attend community events.

Opinion | Don’t Believe Him Look closely at the first two weeks of Donald Trump’s second term and you’ll see something very different than what he wants you to see.

I've been in a state of panic and nausea for two weeks, which doesn't help anyone. Some of you are the same.

Finally I found an article that acknowledges how I feel AND helps me feel hope.

A cold Jesse stands in front of February trees and prairie.

It is a good day to destroy buckthorn.

(Buckthorn not pictured; I've just gone for a walk before the workday starts so far.)

How to engage with social media? Read everything and despair or try to create some piece of nondoom and feel guilty for being selfish?

First step is figuring out how to not collapse every time I open an app.

I don't need to be told my loved ones and I are valid; I need it proved that we're safe. But that's harder to do, innit?
