🌱Been busy removing grass and digging down to make a rain garden. Planted lots of keystone plants and almost exclusively natives. Now the job will
be to keep it alive this summer and let the roots get a hold. Had so much fun!

A milkweed plant with many buds and shockingly bright orange flowers starting to open. The round tightly packed unopened buds range from pale green to ivory, peach, and pinkish deep coral red. A red and black Large Milkweed Bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus) is sitting on some green buds in the bottom left corner. Oklahoma, zone 7b.

I love all the colors in the buds of this milkweed when it's just starting to bloom. Asclepias tuberosa, Butterfly Milkweed, with a Large Milkweed Bug. #nativeplants 🌱 #gardening #bloomscrolling

Here she is starting to open up this morning. Blooms are a much softer sparkly pink!

Yeah same here. I’m fine I guess if it just stays in the lawn. I keep it out of the garden beds though.

Interesting never heard of this. I have lots of shady areas needing cover so this might work.

Love it. They appear in my lawn sometimes and I dig them out to put in my taller garden borders. The yellow flowers last quite a long time!

I sowed clover in my lawn 3 years ago and now it’s outcompeting even the creeping Charlie that is everywhere. I can’t complain! 🌱 #gardening #lawn

Hah! Same. I tried to grow nasturtiums in it last year and totally failed. This year is has all the hardy plants I can’t kill - creeping Jenny, oregano, mint, and some succulents.

Take a look through my greenhouse door. Outside all is still brown with just a trace of green showing on a few plants where buds are swelling, while in the greenhouse, it's green and lush. 🌱

In bloom now is bearded Iris Beverly Sills, it was a gift from a social media friend a few years ago. I absolutely love her 😍🌱

It's been a very good year for the natural Primroses. #gardening 🌱

Assortment of taller apricot and shorter rich maroon tulips surrounded by iris leaves, daylily clump of leaves, rose bushes not yet blooming, and small mounds of ubiquitous buttercup clumps that are so difficult to eradicate for a weekend gardener like me.
