Resistance to ICE and the oppression by the state-National Guard in US cities is very American. The 4th amendment is to protect people from unreasonable searches and seizures. The 2nd amendment ie; the right “to keep & bear arms” is based on the right of self-defense and resistance to oppression.

Nothing new ! Trump is typical of the kings, queens, emperors czars, pharaohs etc etc of the past - they were brutal, misogynistic, egomaniacs, and used their subjects for their own purposes. The idea of leaders serving the people is only a recent concept.

They have exposed the heartlessness of MAGA and the Marie Antoinette attitude of Trump. This will come to hurt the Republican Party next time the people decide who is best to deal with their concerns. I think it appears the Dems caved but in the long run they have come out on the side of the people. With a few Dems siding with the Republicans to pass the bill they show concern for the many who are not being paid, for those who want to have Thanksgiving, air safety, etc.
