Who remembers when the band Geordie were so big they made the cover of Popswop magazine? Did they have more than one hit? Apparently they supported Slade on tour in the Spring of 1973. Who knew? The lead vocalist (Brian Johnson) went on to become lead singer with AC/DC! #Geordie

Born 9 Mar 1943, #BobbyFischer began as a chess prodigy in his teens & went on to become the youngest grandmaster at 15. In 1972 Fischer won the championship against Boris Spassky (USSR) in ReykjavΓ­k, Iceland. The match attracted more worldwide interest than any chess championship before or since.

8 Mar 1965, Bob Dylan's single, Subterranean Homesick Blues was released in the US. It gave Dylan his first top 40 hit & was noted for its film clip. It was shot in an alley behind the Savoy Hotel in London; the cue cards which Dylan held were written by Donovan, Allen Ginsberg and Dylan himself.
