I've rediscovered my love of Re-Volt. What a good game. Love that there is still a community around it too.

They also gravitate toward peer groups that reinforce that line of thinking, especially among online communities where they can work together to harm others.

A lot of older movies set the bar for what can be considered a classic. There's a reason they are.

tumblr post by user sapphling from August of 2023 reading: "sitting anti-kink posters down in front of a wrestling match and explaining kayfabe to them with the patience of a preschool teacher"

"You see that one? He's called the "heel." He looks mean and says a lot of scary things, but it's not real and he's actually very nice. When he says "I'm going to break you in half" you don't have to be scared because it's pretend. These two talked about this beforehand, and now they're playing pretend together. Can you think of any other situations that might be like this?

Then they have screenshotted tags left on their post by another user reading: "crying screaming and throwing up when you tell me the undertaker didn't REALLY die and come back to life all those times"

sapphling follows that with "no that part was real"

That fascism destroys childhood is completely lost on them, too.

I swear, half the ads in the 90s were like this. Grabs your attention, but has nil to do with the product being advertised. lol

I like buying old Heathkit and Eico equipment on ebay, knowing that some hobbyist assembled it and enjoyed it for decades. But damn, some of these people's soldering skills... Did you solder it with a blow torch and a butter knife? lol

RIP to Jesse Jackson. His funeral is today. I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Yup. The actual content is often saved for the last paragraph, while the article headline and first two paragraphs are written in such a way to misinform. Isn't journalism great?

Yeah, I like seeing people take such concepts in new directions like that. It's just so hard to find that sort of inventiveness and nuance. I was looking for inspiration to visualize, which led to the post. I probably also just fail at searching.

Random pet peeve of mine:

The vast majority of fantasy airship designs are just Age of Sail seafaring vessels with gas bags and/or propellers attached to them. C'mon people. Everyone does this. Get novel with it.

Organized religion is a tool the powerful use to influence and control those they feel are beneath them. Classic cult behavior on a large scale.

U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for β€œArmageddon,” Return of Jesus Advocacy group reports commanders giving similar messages at more than 30 installations in every branch of the military

EXCLUSIVE: At more than 30 installations, U.S. commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been β€œinundated” with more than 110 complaints.

One NCO said they were told the U.S. war is to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus…

Yeah, that's why I picked that up. I don't know much. Wanted to learn at least a little. The software actually teaches a lot of theory, openers, and all sorts of different opponents to practice against.

It’s funny if you call PayPal or visa lines and bring this up asking why they claim β€œadult illustrations” is against their regulations but betting on the death of kids is totally fine. They don’t have an answer.

In fact yall should call them at least once a day with this :)

I had just got a copy of CM 7000 on ebay for my old Pentium PC. Crazy seeing these games mentioned in the wild like this. XD

Republicans claim public schools aren't effective. So they reduce funding. A couple years later, they claim they aren't effective. So they reduce funding. A couple years later, they claim they aren't effective. So they reduce funding. Ad nauseam. And it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Predictably there are a small number of people already going "whuuuh I'm not fascist just bc I hate some taboo art!" Exactly what I said, read it again. Are you reporting artists? Are you making callout posts? Hating a type of art does not make you fascist, but suppressing its right to exist does

Silver lining... ISPs don't care about the Last Mile infrastructure of most consumers... carving out whole monopolies for themselves so they wouldn't have to improve their services. There's no way, when ISPs already throttle data during peak hours, that they could handle full PCs worth of data.

My previous post reminds me of when I ran TTRPGs in Roll20. I calculated the cost of the service over my time using it and it was over $500.

I bought Foundry VTT and didn't look back.

Fuck that shit.

So far I have seen HP laptop rentals, Nintendo Switch 2 rentals, and LG TV rentals. Framed as subscriptions. Naturally. And the standard duration is typically for a few years. And that final cost is often more than just buying the goddamn product.
