Richmond Virginia has vape shops that have been there longer than the Confederacy was. Build a statue of Francine the Lowes cat, or just any possum. They're more important to the identity of the city at this point. Lucy Dacus has spent more time in Richmond than Jefferson Davis.

The city released a dataset of cell phone telemetry they purchased joined to road data. Here's a visualization I made of how much over the speed limit each road is traveled on, on avg.

Green - below speed limit
Yellow - 0-5 over
Orange - 5-10 over
Red - 10+ over

It's annoying that urbanists and YIMBYs keep asking for "missing middle" housing - cozy little 4-8 unit apartments. But developers only want to build huge luxury units that maximize profit for their private equity ownership.

Coincidentally, I was just walking by, and that block is mostly the Truist building now. The Mutual Aid building at the far right is from 1906, and replaced their building at the same spot in the original picture.

Yeah, local urbanists have been complaining about this. The city just got rid of parking minimums and is overhauling the zoning code. I think you've nicely captured the densest parking area, as seen on this map. Surprisingly RVA scores in the middle for US cities 🤷🏽 parkingreform.org/parking-lot-...
