We are a city of nerds! How cool!
My mum used to take us to this library every week growing up. We’d leave with so many picture books, we’d inevitably set of the alarm on the way out. Then I’d get a millionaire at Clark’s Cafe and feel like one.
I felt nothing this IWD so I wanted to explore why.

The meal was prepared by my mum who accidentally turned up matching me.
30 volunteers turned up on a school night!
5 first timers to political campaigns. 3 more callers break 100 dials tonight. 1 beautiful meal dropped off by another volunteer for us to share!
The team are doing so, so well and I am so, so proud!
Okay, so do I stop writing sports opinion and just start writing political ones instead? Cause this is unimpressive stuff.
Oh by the way, I’m facilitating the Q&A at the screening of this doco on grassroots women’s rugby at Petone Lighthouse tonight and you should come.

The experience of time when you are alone like that, is really quite odd.
There’s a shapelessness to all of it.
You seem to only exist in the present but also, those moments just stretch out and out and out.
Covid for me meant 6 weeks of solo self isolation which was a very weird time for me mentally and honestly think fundamentally changed how I show up in the world.
But I am still glad they did it and put people first.
She was only 25 when she found the lump in her breast. So let this be the reminder to check your bits and get to the doctor if anything feels off.
Absolutely wonderful news that my sister in law is now cancer free!
Still a ways to go in her treatment and some bills to pay because not all healthcare is free in this country but oh the relief!
Yup which is part of what I see as the cost of lives. It’s all too expensive.
A disclaimer I feel is necessary: my rants on here after seeing a certain breakfast host’s smug mug will never be as clearly articulated or nuanced as columns I sit down to write.
Feel free to ask if you need clarification on my views when I am out here venting. Cause THE FUCKING STATE IF IT ALL!!
No worries mate, I appreciate your passion for working class folk. It’s one we share.
That’s a lot of assumptions made off the back of a post but all good. Welcome to the internet.
… when we don’t value life, we will keep pursuing war, no matter the human cost of the conflict be that children dying or having trouble being fed due to cost of living.
Thank you Kyle yes, as with all social media posts, I’m voicing one frustration at a time not speaking on all shades of experience.
Personally, I’m by no means wealthy and am going to be heavy impacted by the increased costs.
But I believe this framing is part of what contributes to these costs…
Sorry, I just feel fucking insane right now.
Like, who knew big scary world events would be covered in the most beige fucking bach at the beach, oh no it’s raining on my summer holiday, let’s do the stuff quiz kind of way.
“Will National win an election if petrol costs $3??”
EXCUSE ME, I WOULD RATHER KNOW OF NATIONAL IS GOING TO COMMIT TO SENDING OUR PEOPLE TO WAR!
Did we learn nothing from the last global catastrophe? It can all just stop and then what? Money in your account?? WHO CARES!!
We are all more than fucking transfers of goods and services.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
This framing of war having a negative impact on the cost of living makes me wanna scream!
That petrol and groceries are the focus over the human cost is so unbearably grim.
I am sick of money being the measure of all worth in this world.
Fuck cost of living, I am worried about cost of lives.
There is a direct correlation between how happy I am and how scrunchy my features are.
Highlight of my weekend was meeting Our Carol aka Carol Hayes, Black Fern #16
Chilled out entertainer
Kate's story was testimony for us girls, the old ones, who saw her success as our reward.

Chris plays bogan better than other Chris, who hasn’t been seen in those sharkie in too long. But Kieran beats them both with his Fred Dagg impression.
Barbara meanwhile is my favourite Labour MP.
And so concludes my vibes based political analysis (it’s all vibes anyway).
I watched it on the plane! It was manageable.
But then also for some reason, I’ve discovered I am braver in the air.
Still waiting for them to install the most logical pairing of Barbara and Kieran.
If National changes their leader, will Labour change theirs?
Chris could beat Chris but I don’t know if Chris could beat Chris.
Right?! I want to see but know it would only be the slivers between my fingers with my stomach tight to avoid the lurch.
So many movies I would like to watch at the moment are horror films but the problem is I don’t like being scared.
