Correction: one header in the playoff semis. None in the normal season – which sort of still makes the case for asking why he was signed for a system where we would only sparingly cross the ball into the areas he’s thrived on in his career. Think he’ll likely do well in Wrexham’s system #bskyblades

Worked hard in a system ill suited to him – despite Burrows’s signing we barely crossed a ball to him in front of goal, likely the only team he’s played for never to score a header. Played through injury and needing an op while Campbell got fit. Was excellent at Blackburn + in p/o semis #bskyblades

Disappointed that Kieffer Moore’s time with us didn’t really go as planned. I’d have been fine with him staying, but most United fans can’t forgive his contribution to the playoff final loss. Given his age and the system Sellés is likely to play, this deal makes sense for all parties #bskyblades

My two years in secret court: How UK governments hid a national scandal
The government put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. Then used the force of law in a constitutionally unprecedented way to prevent anyone finding out.
For 2 years, 2 govts used a secret court to hide the truth: they put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. They used constitutionally unprecedented methods to prevent reporting.
My reflections on two years on this story and why it must ever happen again.

…and on that occasion SMP reacts where Esther Morgan has not but not quick or decisively enough sadly. Too easy.
Ceri Holland fashioned herself a good opening a few mins before but just didn’t get a good enough connection on the ball. Really good moments in this but just lacking quality

Safia Middleton-Patel has been v good for Wales the last yr. Reads situations well (eg 1st half to push out when realising Esther Morgan wasn’t getting to Malard), takes the ball cleanly, good reflexes etc. An undercooked ball back from Morgan, but it’s a bad & costly decision by SMP #WEURO2025

Unlucky half for Wales, but still a great moment for Jess Fishlock for the equaliser.
Nervy start, poor on France’s goal, but Wales recovered well, grew in confidence, and bright on the break. Brilliant ball by Gemma Evans to set Holland free for the goal.
V obv pen sadly before h/t

The gamble: making sense of the Chris Wilder sacking
Ben Meakin weighs up the risks, rewards, and reasoning behind a bold decision by new ownership—and why he's ready to roll the dice on a new era at Bramall Lane.
And a really good piece on @thepinch.uk from @bladespod.bsky.social on the Wilder exit – it will probably make surprising reading to non-SUFC fans that perhaps haven’t followed the season as closely, but some very valid issues from the season laid out here www.thepinch.uk/p/the-gamble... #bskyblades

Sellés’s appointment is one of the more interesting we’ve made – not a lot to go on, but what little there is looks positive. Rare we appoint a young boss and it not be their 1st job, and the Reading/Hull jobs were tough. Good piece on him from @ntt20.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW4_... #bskyblades

Last season, CW probably a victim of his own success – expectations low with last summer’s off-field chaos, then surpassed these by Jan, and when you add in the recruitments made those expectations reshifted further. With most poor, the owners probably lost faith in investing more in CW #bskyblades

Think the Wilder sacking is a real mix of harsh and yet understandable, tho I’d have been fine with him starting next season. The football for a lot of last season wasn’t great, and I felt we ended it not knowing the best XI nor what the style of play was. Both were so clear over 2016-20 #bskyblades

Really good pod – think it cuts through a lot of the chatter at both ends of the Wilder In/Out spectrum to give a really fair view of it. There’s a lot of factors to it – I’m unsure another decent manager would have won as many points last season, but also willing to embrace the chaos here

It’s a bad mistake by him for the winner granted, but really haven’t liked a lot of the comments thrown at Kieffer Moore since the final whistle. Been a key player these last few weeks to help get us to the final, thought he’d had a decent impact on the game otherwise yesterday #bskyblades

A day on, I do understand why some reckon this was the worst, the only one we’ve been ahead in normal time, much less 15 mins from a win.
2nd half we lost some of the control we had, particularly midfield. Felt it cried out for the calmness of Tom Davies after an hour. So disappointing #bskyblades

I’ve been to Wembley with United in 1993, 1997, 2009, 2012, and 2023. I was abroad for the goal-fest vs Hull in 2015, so the only time I have seen us score at Wembley was on that very first visit.
At the v least today, I want to have seen someone other than Alan Cork score for us there #bskyblades

Oh it’s definitely on our style, though probably also reflects our set-piece struggles (till v recently). What I meant was when we signed him and Burrows in the same window I was expecting us to be a *very* crossing-heavy team…

Yeah that would certainly be my preference.
For me, Moore has shown in the last few games exactly what I’d been hoping he’d bring us when he signed.
I definitely hadn’t expected us to have to wait till May for him to score a header for us – must be a complete anomaly in his career

Just thinking back to this, are we in a bit of a 2003 esque dilemma re: team selection?
Would the calmness of Tom Davies be right for this? Do we stick with the formation that worked in the semis or return to the one we won with in Nov vs them?
Arguably v tough on Moore if he doesn’t start…

I’ve seen a lot of United playoff games and routine home & away legs in the semis is definitely something very new.
Big Kieffer has been great these last two games – exactly what I’d hoped for when he signed. Vini Souza superb tonight too, was absolutely everywhere #bskyblades

A lovely evening in the sun at Bramall Lane for the 2nd leg. I expected Wilder to make a couple of changes, but surprised to see Peck starting tonight on a booking. Feels slightly risky with Davies now fit to not just switch them.
Same attitude as last Thursday needed tonight #bskyblades

Excellent result. It’s a great substitution 2nd half from Wilder tbh. He doesn’t always get those right, and I suspect there’d have been a few moans and groans going with one striker off against 10, but it made a big difference in adding that energy in O’Hare and direct threat in Brooks #bskyblades

Deservedly ahead after a really positive half. Not sure what Don Goodman is on about with the red card – Dickie clearly hauls Moore back with both arms before making his attempt at the ball, and in that position it’s a deliberate foul and pen. Decent halves for Moore & Brewster #bskyblades

9 playoffs. 0 promotions. 1 relegation.
That record has to change at some point, but can’t given that record go into this evening’s game with any expectation it will this time round.
We’re at least going into these playoffs with a near fully fit squad. Fancy Moore to start this eve #bskyblades
