Spare a thought for the poor centrist UK columnists, torn between their kneejerk hatred of gauche Trump and his antics, but oh! The glorious realpolitik of foreign locales on fire!

Nick Cohen's article about the shamelessness of Zack Polanski

This might surprise people who aren't from the UK, but over here there's a publication that, in order to write for it, you have to be a sex offender.

Been playing my recently favourite game of "how many clicks on Wikipedia before you find out this was Britain's fault"

Which way do we think 'Lady Liberty' in the Eye will break next issue? Pretending to understand American politics or pretending to understand Middle Eastern history?

My actual favourite class at FSU was the advanced human osteology lab, where the final exam included "black bag" questions where you had to identify a bone, and which side it was, and possibly age and sex as well, by feel.

Someone's out there living my dream job and absolutely *killing* it!

8,000 year-old human skeleton discovered by cave divers near Tulum Archaeologist Octavio del Río said that the skeleton is under sediment in a cave system flooded at the end of the last ice age.

I first became interested in cave diving as an undergrad anthropology student, so stuff like this is unreasonably exciting to me mexiconewsdaily.com/news/8000-ye...

When my father's father was in his 80s he had a stroke and came to live with us. His favourite sport was baseball, so being before the interminable postseason we 'enjoy' now, we made videos of old games to entertain him.

Today feels like Pop-pop's bespoke entertainment loop has escaped containment.

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

Anywhere on the road to Mallaig is convenient enough for Fort William. We ended up buying in Strontian which is ferry-dependent and a bit of a trek (bit v beautiful for it)

Lived in Corpach for.a.bit and the view from the station there to the Ben is most spectacular.
