Funnily enough I saw Woman and Woman's Own in the newsagent the other day and thought how pleased I was they were still going. And, inevitably, sung the "W-O-M-A-N! Exciting again!" jingle to myself

We faithfully referred to everything I had on order at the newsagents as "my comics" even when the order included Private Eye and Q

Used to be a big fan of the News of the World for Charlie Catchpole, Cap'n Cash and the comic strips in the Sunday mag

This is not including things like the Proms that the broadcasters run themselves

Today is the 34th consecutive year the Brits have been on ITV, and I can't think of many longer-running relationships on TV. Can only think of the Festival of Remembrance and The Lord Mayor's Show as events that have been covered by the same channel for longer

Nearly two decades on this remains a consistently entertaining series

Mark Goodier will grow into that suit. 6000 calories a day for ten years should do it #totp

As @merseytart.bsky.social suggested, a French language song being successful in a French speaking country where so few singles are sold Candle in the Wind was in the top ten for three years perhaps not something to get too excited about

BBC Radio 2 - Pick of the Pops, 1990 Mark Goodier counts down the chart from this day in 1990.

Had great fun with this, aside from Phil Collins and Michael Bolton, the soundtrack of my last few months in primary school and the triple bill of Black Box, Technotronic and Beats International is fantastic www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Had a great day today in our old stomping ground of W12 visiting Access Services and meeting the people responsible for signing, subtitling and audio describing so many of our programmes. They do an incredible job with so much care and attention and really are the unsung heroes of TV

The 1990 Yearbook includes the greatest interview in the history of music journalism

I hadn't really considered before that signing the news is as much a journalistic job as reporting it, as you need to understand the stories to be able to interpret them accurately and choose the right words and expressions
