His actions over the past 48 hours have pushed me over the edge. Have at him. He is truly disgusting.

It happens all the time. The East bank of the Potomac is like rush hour with military traffic. This has been an accident waiting to happen for years. The tragedy is in its preventability.

Fair enough. I’m certainly not fond of the new administration, and I’m horrified with what’s transpired so far. And I’m fearful of what’s coming down the pike. But, this wreck easily could’ve happened two months ago, two years ago. The problem goes much deeper than the new administration.

I don’t disagree with that. But this hits so close to home for me, and after flying in and out of this airport for more than two decades and wondering when this crash was going to happen, I know exactly where the blame lies.

I am no fan of this administration. But the fact is, this has been going on for years. Pilot unions have complained about low flying helicopters around DCA, but it’s been ignored by bureaucrats and the media. The media simply hasn’t been paying attention.

You’re a pilot and a journalist. You ought to know that pilots have been complaining about DCA airspace for years, to crickets. But you decided to use a tragedy as an excuse to further an agenda. Way to go.

This is the part of the story where people begin using a tragedy to further their own agendas. Let the bodies cool and the investigation begin. Maybe you’ll suddenly remember all the pilots’ complains about how dangerous this airspace is, and how it’s been roundly ignored.

I am no fan of this administration. But the rush to blame them for tonight’s crash at DCA is just wrongheaded and smacks of opportunism. This has been an accident waiting to happen. I feel for the survivors of the passengers and crew members, but the truth is, this has been going on for years.

Good example of how to take charge and handle yourself in a fuel emergency. FARs require any IFR flight plan to land with at least 45 minutes of fuel; they had 40 mins in the tank. Right decision with the winds and NY traffic to declare and get the priority you need. Great work all around.

4/ Good news is, the system worked. Thankfully the holes in the swiss cheese didn't line up, and we didn't have a tragedy. As ABC pointed out, the FAA will investigate. Which they do in all TCAS alerts. It's a great system, and it did its job today.

3/ If the radar data is correct and synced properly with the audio — and I believe it is, because VAS is really good at what they do — then the controller waited way too long to turn Delta onto final. The RA sounds just as the DL pilot is responding.

There was a study of TCAS RAs (the ones described below) in BOS back in '07, which amounted to 9 of these events happening daily. Yes, nine times.

Wow. This is *not* how this system is supposed to work. If one engine was still working, then they should’ve had most systems. If both engines were working, then they should’ve had battery power. This just gets curiouser and curiouser. #JejuAirCrash
