This is true but a big challenge is no one wants to think about it. I sometimes wonder if we’d get farther saying:
“Someday—maybe that day’s already here—you’ll be a caregiver to a loved one who’s become disabled. That experience will be so much easier if you join the fight against ableism now.”

Workers can no longer count on the Department of Labor.
With Project Firewall, the Department of Labor is lending a hand to Trump’s effort to police visa holders. @kimkelly.bsky.social lays out the agency’s early history of protecting immigrants, and describes its recent rightward turn.

That’s a meeting organized by Rep. Goodman’s office that was supposed to be about listening to why we oppose the bill. But they chose to hold it at the KCPAO office (not a friendly place for us) and invited bunch of pro-criminalization groups to drown us out.

Someday, you too will be disabled. Your life will be so much better then if you address your ableism now

I am so precise about this because: destigmatization of Long COVID and ME/CFS works through “depsychologization.”

I would rather put it the other way around: psychologization leads to stigmatization.

Two cities under siege
Remarkably similar scenes from Boston and Minneapolis, 260 years apart, show a federal government betraying its founding principles.
ICYMI: I looked through a published archive of Boston newspapers from the 1760s, when British troops were stationed in the city.
The accounts read remarkably similar to what's happening in Minneapolis.

The Feds never left Los Angeles. Don’t forget us. Solidarity with Minneapolis and all communities under siege by federal pigs.
Keep fighting. Hold the line.

Sorry, I should have said MOST “anti-trafficking” work. In truth, movements for decriminalization ARE anti-trafficking work.

This is the history of "anti-trafficking” work as it is practiced today. The praxis now is incarceration. That’s the lineage.

Congress passed the “white slavery act” of 1910 during the highest period of lynchings in US history while refusing to pass any of numerous anti-lynching bills (Prof. Barbara Holden-Smith), and importantly, these facts are connected. The praxis of “saving” white women from SW was lynching

This is one of the things that I find is most shocking to people outside Minnesota who don’t realize it yet—the scale at which everyone who isn’t white has been forced into a spectrum of hiding.
Very good article drawing out the Tahrir Square comparison.

It doesn’t matter if Alex Pretti had a gun
Nonviolence is a double standard.
ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol have proven themselves incapable of obeying the law, let alone enforcing it for others; unable to self-soothe, let alone keep the peace. Why must ordinary people be asked to stay calm and not upset them? www.theverge.com/policy/86745...

Is the membership fee for a chunk of real estate in Jared Kushner’s “New Gaza” plan? Or is it going to Trump’s pocket via some offshore bank account based in Qatar? We may never know.

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.

I am seeing quite a few nurses calling for a nationwide strike over the killing of Alex Pretti. I think we are seeing one of the largest workforces being radicalized before our very eyes.
