This thinking is a solid argument for why TLJ's origin story for Rey is so much better than ROS's origin story for Rey. TLJ democratized specialness in the SW universe. ROS re-aristocratized it.

I also think that a big part of why the Eccelston to Tennant switch went as well as it did was because we had Rose for continuity. The current pattern of always replacing the Doctor and the companion at the same time makes it much easier to fall off in interest.
24.07.2025 18:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
I completely agree with this. Rose was inarguably the central protagonist of her seasons, as was Donna, as were Rory and Amy. (Martha was undermined a bit by the whole "companion in love with the Doctor" element, which never works for me, and was a particularly bad fit for her.)
24.07.2025 18:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I've been surprised how many people tell me Smith was their favorite. I liked him well enough, but he's last on my list for modern era. (I don't know the classic era well enough.) Those *seasons* were really good though. Amy and Rory were great, and the stories were fun.
24.07.2025 16:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Maybe, but while the Chibnall seasons had problems (though I did genuinely love Whitaker's Doctor), I was disappointed that the response was to go backwards and bring RTD back. The creative vision itself needed refreshing.
24.07.2025 16:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Very much agree with this. Capaldi was wonderful (and I especially liked having an *old* Doctor again), but the writing of those seasons was a low point. If the writing was operating at the same level as Capaldi himself, I think he'd be remembered as one of the greats.

It would honestly be less irksome if they just called it "Best *Non-Fiction* Podcasts" and categorically just left fiction outside the scope of the list.

The filling is very easy to make at home, and makes a great topping for French toast or waffles! Sometimes I use it as a dip for Biscoff.
Ricotta, confectioner's sugar, vanilla and/or almond extract, and that's all! Just whip them together until it's fluffy.

Oh, I can't recommend it enough! It's tiny and can be hard to get a seat, but everything I've ever eaten there is amazing!
23.07.2025 04:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Absolutely! I haven't read The Boys (and won't bother, despite enjoying the show), but the Preacher show was downright refreshing for it's lack of certain major elements of the comics!

No one makes me think "with the freedom to make all the cuts I want, I could edit this into something great," quite so much as Ennis. The good parts can be so good, but man does he punish you for sticking with him! One of very few people whose work is genuinely improved by adaptation to the screen.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same. They've updated their labels, and the one I have is a much chunkier grind. But so far as I know, should be the same flavor.
One of the things I love about Sofra is they have a small grocery section where they sell the same ingredients they use.

I would also add, pertinent to your effort/reward ratio, that lasagna scales efficiently--layering takes extra time, but mixing the fillings takes roughly the same amount of time no matter how much you make. And lasagna freezes very well. I usually make three full lasagnas at a time.

I'm not fond of lamb myself. I just use beef. Lamb isn't actually as common in Greek food as people think anyway. That's special for holidays.

David, next time you're in my neck of the woods, you have to come for dinner, because man have I got a variation on lasagna bolognese for you. Mine uses a kima (the meat layer of moussaka), which I make with smoked cinnamon, and I think you'd love it!
