I rooted against him as a quarterback because he was never leading my team. But I wanted that experience to be interesting as a commentator. I found him dull and then he complained that quarterbacks are running too much and I decided he’s the worst. Get out of the pocket, wiener!

#FilmSky Help! Does anyone have the Nicholl Fellowship winning scripts from 2000? I am specifically looking for "Powder River Breakdown" by James M. Foley. I am asking for his friends and family, as his script was lost to them after his death. Please RT. I'd love for them to read this.

Don and Mud. Best in the TV business.

Jesse and Tony. Best in the radio business.

(I may be biased. Also, β€œAmerican Voice 3” in Siri sounds a lot like Tony.)

They’ve also got Tony Gwynn Jr. doing the radio (and occasional tv) broadcasts!

An orange 1970’s Dymo labelmaker.

An orange 1970’s Dymo labelmaker.

We had a Dymo labelmaker when I was a kid. You turned the dial and squeezed the trigger to emboss each letter onto sticky tape. I swear to god this held such ongoing fascination for me that I feel sorry for kids who only have cell phones

Getting one of these things as a kid made me almost understand the Victorian compulsion to name and classify every species and variety of animal and vegetable and mineral on earth. The Home Labelmaker in hand was nothing less than a gleaming sword of taxonomy, all must bow down and be Marked.

I hate to be that guy. But I have friends who are genuinely terrified of dogs and I see so many dog owners who think β€œoh surely you don’t mean MY dog.”

Yeah. Your dog. I’m happy you have a companion you love, but that isn’t a license to let them loose on the public.

Two people holding their unleashed dog and an elk antler, just a few feet away from elephant seals on the beach.

Two people holding their unleashed dog and an elk antler, just a few feet away from elephant seals on the beach.

enriqueaguirrephoto Christmas Day at Drakes beach, these two individuals decided that federal and state laws don't apply to them. How you ask? Well, in a few ways... Drakes is part of the National Seashore and a State Marine Reserve/Marine Protected Area (MPA) and it has special conservation rules...
1) they took their dog on to drakes beach, even worse, they had it off leash (close up you can see it doesn't even have a collar), in its self this is bad enough but wait there's more...
2) the dog repeatedly run up to the resting elephant seals... it is currently seal pupping season. This is wildlife harassment and a violation of the marine mammal protection act. Not content with that...
3) if you look closely the woman is carrying an antler. At point Reyes collecting antlers without a permit is considered poaching. But wait there's more!!! The visitor center at drakes is named after Point Reyes NS Ranger Kenneth Patrick who was murdered in Point Reyes NS while tracking poachers in the summer of 1973... that is about as insensitive and disrespectful as it gets.
The two individuals ignored and NOAA pinniped researcher and a MPA Watch volunteer. Rangers were called.
Fortunately, today 12/26 the park service has started the seal season docent program with volunteers and rangers on site that will ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable seal viewing experience for all.
Don't be like these two or you'll be on next years Santa naughty list.

Dogs and other pets are wonderful animals that give comfort and companionship. However, a national park is not the best place for them.
β€’ Dogs can scare, chase, harass, and/or kill wild animals, such as nesting shorebirds, deer, rabbits, and marine mammals. As an example, in 2019 here at Point Reyes, a dog which was illegally off-leash attacked and killed a rare Guadalupe fur seal.
β€’ Dogs leave behind a territorial "predator" scent typical of all wild canines, like wolves and coyotes. This scent can linger in the area for long periods of time and can disrupt or alter the behavior of the native animals this park has been set aside to protect.
β€’ Pets can transmit diseases to wild animals-such as
coyotes, badgers, and marine mammals β€” or contract diseases from wild animals. Some diseases transmitted by ticks and fleas, such as Lyme disease and bubonic plague, could then be transmitted to humans.
β€’ Native predators, such as mountain lions and coyotes, may see pets as prey, placing both pet and owner in danger.
β€’ Pets can damage the ground, sensitive archaeological sites, and plants by digging or rolling.
β€’ Even normally well-behaved pets can become stressed by unfamiliar surroundings, threatening visitors and wildlife in close situations, such as on park trails or along the narrow paths to the lighthouse.
β€’ Pets can intimidate, disturb, and/or annoy other visitors by making noise or by scaring wildlife away.

😀 big pet peeve: people letting their dogs go off leash in the PRNS wildlife preserve, bothering large sea mammals during pupping season and stealing elk antlers. Grrrrinch!

If you want to let your dog run without a leash, let it do so in a controlled environment like your yard or a designated dog park.

This rant is from a parent who used to enjoy hiking in parks with his kids but is tired of warding off dogs that are off leash and intimidating my kids.

I don’t care how β€œwell behaved” you say they are. They are animals. They will do animal things. They will harm the environment. They will terrify people and animals who are smaller than your dog. Even some people who are larger than your dog will be terrified because they don’t know your dog.

I have strong opinions about people letting dogs off leash in public spaces, not just state and federal lands where it’s expressly forbidden.

Not everyone likes dogs.
Not everyone likes YOUR dog.
Not everyone likes your dog running loose around them with no sense of control.

β€œSiri, don’t ever ever EVER play Pentatonix again.”

How did this music slip past me for all these years? Do people have a nostalgia from when it first came out, like how Mannheim Steamroller keeps playing year after year? Because good gravy, I strongly dislike it.

Handcuffs, shims, handcuff keys, safety pin.

Handcuffs, shims, handcuff keys, safety pin.

I’m getting the gang together and teaching journalists and at-risk people how to get out of handcuffs, plexicuffs, rope, and duct tape. I teach a basic urban escape and evasion class for LGBTQ+ and women every couple of years with the stuff I know. I’m no expert, but I’m field tested!
