All schools have funding for homeless students. The McKinney-Vento Act made federal law guarantee education services for homeless students. Title 1 Part A says all schools must reserve a portion of federal funds to serve homeless students. This allows students to enroll immediately even if they lack documentation.

We should have no homeless students. The ARP-HCY Fund (American Rescue Plan) provided resources during the pandemic to help schools identify and support homeless students. States offer supplementary funding to school districts in need of hiring homeless prevention specialists. Funds cover transportation costs, field trip fees, instrument rentals, hygiene items, Fafsa assistance, etc. Just call your school.

Resonate presents, Let's talk book bans in the United States. 45% of all book bans in the United States are in Florida. 36% in Iowa.

16,000 book bans have been announced since 2021- over 4000 titles. Why do books get banned to begin with? 61.5% for offensive language, 49% unsuited to age group 26% religious viewpoint. What content is banned? Books on race, racism, people of color, LGBT+ topics and history, sexual violence, grief, death, child abuse, mental health, etc.

Two organizations fighting back: The Zinn Education Project- Zinnedproject.org They provide free teaching materials to educators across the United States- focusing on censored history. We Need Diverse Books- Diversebooks.org They promote books by & about marginalized groups in children's publishing.

This month we are focusing on promoting a reading initiative, sharing how to avoid misinformation, providing resources/free materials to counter the lack of financial literacy today, highlighting what so many organizations and activists are doing and what they have already accomplished, taking action ourselves while supporting 5 amazing organizations and asking teachers for their wishlist. How can you help? Monetarily we have ways to donate set up through our linkr, our site, cash app, and through purchase of featured products to donate to those who already doing the work. No to Low cost? Share the mission, organize similar action in your community, collaborate with us, volunteer/join others locally or participate in our weekly call to actions!

AI and its water usage. AI is thirsty and drinking from your back yard. Training and running artificial intelligence systems takes millions of gallons of water. Google used 5 billion gallons of water in 2022 alone. Many data centers pull water directly from local reservoirs drying out communities already struggling with droughts. The water is used to cool servers then is dumped back out hotter which threatens the ecosystem around the centers. Solutions for the future; since AI does not seem to be going anywhere, solutions need to be discussed now before more damage is incurred unnecessarily besides supporting innovations that run on less computing power. Advocate for Transparency; invest in or campaign for renewable coolest Ai like geo thermal or seawater cooling. Advocate for data transparency laws so companies disclose their water use. Push for locations in non drought areas or use recycled/gray water systems.
