04.08.2025 11:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Donβt forget we have a conference coming up - a good place to present work that is explicitly pro-Palestine, anti-occupation and anti-colonial more generally - especially if you are tired of the apathy of existing subject organisations! π

We didnβt get everything right, but I like to think we helped show what was possible. Thank you @workingclassicists.bsky.social for doing this work! β€οΈ

A framed certificate reads "Working Classicist of the Year Zena Kamash Working Classicists Awards 2025"; the certificate is beige with a border of Greco-Roman pottery in brown. Hanging on the top left corner of the frame is a burgundy lanyard, which is decorated in gold with the Working Classicists logo of a closed fist holding a thunderbolt. By the bottom left corner is a blue pin badge in the shape of a shield that reads "Classicist" in gold. In front of the frame to the right is an olive branch sculpture on a black rectangular base. Propped up against the base is a circular, burgundy badge with the Working Classicists logo in gold. All of these are against a background of oak at the bottom and a painted duck egg blue wall above.
SWAG! Thank you @workingclassicists.bsky.social ππ» I will treasure these π₯°

we would be in a much better state in this country if we stopped focusing on anointing a chosen few working class students into Oxbridge, and instead properly funded all the different sorts of universities that attract students from a wide range of backgrounds already

14.07.2025 13:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also make some recommendations about inclusivity at conferences/events in this article (free to read and download). Many of these overlap with those from @workingclassicists.bsky.social , so meeting these needs is even simpler & easier for event organisers:

This is something we've been working on for a long time and its great to finally put it out there.
Although we are primarily concerned with access to Classics-related events, there's plenty in here more generally for providing access for working class people to events in any industry. π

In it, we suggest ways to equalise access and eliminate anxieties around event attendance.

but I fear this leaflet goes right to the top of the list.
