After an autocorrect mishap changed "Tonks" to "Tanks," I've jokingly referred to Zuzu and Myshka as "the Tanks." Zuzu here is a KV-1. The effort to reduce her fuel consumption is ongoing.

Easily my favorite in the series.

Likewise, if a fight is meant to be unwinnable, I'm going to be pretty annoyed if I end up wasting valuable resources trying to win the fight. Either make it clear from the start that I'm supposed to lose or give me an objective other than winning (e.g. survive for X turns).

I'm not sure which I'd prefer. It's more a question of execution for me. If I'm allowed to win the fight only for a cutscene to make the win irrelevant, I want the cutscene to not feel like a Diabolus Ex Machina. Don't have the guy I just stomped suddenly summon new strength and stomp me back.

I 𝘸𝘢𝘴 playing Advance Wars, but one of my staff officers decided to requisition my left hand.

That's kind of how I felt, too. Maybe my memory's just too faint, but the levels themselves also struck me as more forgettable than 1's levels.

Not a fan of the Starship Mario or Lubba, either, though I'll grant that the Comet Observatory and Rosalina are difficult acts to follow.

Kind of reminds me of the adamantine equipment from Baldur's Gate 3...
