When I announced my half marathon swim I promised that if we raised Β£5,000 I would get my chest waxed on stream.

Well, today we hit Β£27k.

So at 5PM today on twitch.tv/drsimonclark I'll be in extreme discomfort.

Be there, have a laugh at my pain, and please donate <3

That's the decrease in the annual number of single-use plastic bags in the UK since a 5p charge started 10 years ago (it's now 10p)

When ICE Agents Are Waiting Outside the Courtroom An asylum seeker and her children face the terrifying new reality of immigration hearings.

Since the spring, federal agents have been patrolling government buildings in New York City, waiting to arrest migrants as soon as they step out of a courtroom, regardless of the status of their case.

This is truly sad news. Tom Lehrer was a big musical and comedic influence on me, being introduced to his work as a young teenager.

And to think, by his age Mozart had already been dead for 62 years!

World's top court opens door to compensation from countries responsible for climate crisis International Court of Justice rules that governments have a legal duty to prevent and repair damage to the climate system

Breathtaking ruling from the ICJ.

Will this single handedly solve the climate crisis?

Of course not.

But it's a valuable new tool in the task of pushing major polluters to change their ways.

Given that I almost exclusively talk to passionate, educated people on this topic, it's very easy to forget how low the average person's climate and statistical literacies are

There's so much work to do improving both and we have no alternative but to do it

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the fundraiser so far - we've now officially hit Β£20k!

In fact we hit it just before I got in the pool for my longest training swim.

If we could hit Β£30k before the half marathon that would be amazing!

He helped Microsoft build AI to help the climate. Then Microsoft sold it to Big Oil. A former Microsoft project manager reveals how the tech giant is using AI to help Big Oil drillβ€”and how he and his partner are now pushing for change.

NEW: A former Microsoft AI engineer says the company's "AI for sustainability" claims are BS, a distraction from their hyper-polluting AI contracts with oil companies.

β€œFrom what I saw," he said, "I believe that finding and extracting more oil is one of the biggest use cases of AI today."

This what we're up against.

Reform UK are acting like the thugs of the fossil fuel mafia.

It is imperative that the UK does not retreat from it's excellent progress on net zero to date. We started the fossil-fuelled industrial revolution and we can also show the way past it.

I’m doing this in honour of my dad
YouTube video by Simon Clark I’m doing this in honour of my dad

Two years ago I lost my dad to cancer.

He used to run marathons for our local cancer hospice and taught me to love the water by taking me swimming every week.

So in his memory I'm raising money for the hospice not by running a half marathon... but by swimming one
