ftr i thought vogel's kermit was different but good in the new special and he definitely understands the assignment. kermit felt authentic which was a big problem even later in the whitmire era. it's clear in the special that the muppets have aged so i think the change there is fine

on the other hand, if i was kermit and they told me to lie to robin i woulda fuckin walked.

on one hand, one of the parts of the sacred pact of a role is that you never get to keep the keys from a spiritual perspective. art is bigger than you. i feel the exact same way when frank oz insisted bert and ernie aren't gay. you don't get to reach that high into heaven big dog

it does seem like steve whitmire legit went off the deep end after he got fired from the muppets, he's said some really indefensible stuff about the nature of performing arts and puppetry in general and that's a damn shame because i greatly empathize with his pushing back against muppets 2015
