OTD 1978: Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus instigate the Movement of 24th January to manage the Durutti Column. They later launch the Factory club to provide the band with a live outlet and go on to start Factory records.

Manchester City fan Gretton was an insurance clerk then worked on a kibbutz.
In 1976 he became involved in the emerging Manchester punk scene with Slaughter & The Dogs and The Panik. Then JDs manager.
