I have tried to say of bad conduct, “That’s not me.” Nice try. It’s all me. So we need a core set of values that helps us be, mostly, one healthy being. Same for a nation. Core set of values: necessary. Usually called a constitution. When one person’s power supersedes that, the nation is done.

Do animals think? I’ve heard it asked. While I’m not certain about this, there is a human animal that clearly does not think. It just responds to circumstances according to the one goal of getting and keeping power. Ethical thinking is a distraction from that one Thing. They need to be caged.
