I agree I like to know how to do things and it's useful to know

what pisses me off are all these guys treating it like that's the entire process and giving it more weight than it deserves in a modern system

beatmatching used to be a skill, sure, but now I have exact BPM, a visual phase meter, the key, both songs waveforms playing next to each other visually....and the beatsync is what ur mad about?

I'm tired of these anti-sync guys talking all kindsa shit when they spend 4 minutes a song flapping their arms and lining up the next one

They're super against DJing with sync because they think beatmatching is difficult on modern gear, a CDJ isn't vinyl where that's actually tricky

go scramble your beatgrid and block your screen, do it entirely by ear and then you can say that

in practice really i took it a bit far like

>My Tag Contains "Hard Stuff"
>BPM > 150
>My Tag Excludes "WIP"
>My Tag Excludes "Exclude These"
>My Tag Includes "Has Cue"

but I could make an auto playlist like

>meet any condition
>genre contains hardcore
>genre contains hardstyle

then highlight them all and tag them "Hard Stuff", and now I can make a second playlist like

>My Tag contains "Hard Stuff"
>BPM Range 150-170

now it includes what I wanted

For example it wouldn't behave right like

>match any condition
>genre contains hardcore
>genre contains hardstyle
>BPM is greater than 150

bcuz that will technically include all songs above 150 as well as those genres

The Intelligent Playlists don't always behave the way I want on the first try, but making a whitelist of songs and THEN adding a flavor tag of some kind usually lets me make a new playlist that uses that tag properly and automatically

Solving many of my Rekordbox issues by abusing the My Tags system

>add tag "Has Cues"

Can now exclude any song that I haven't added cues to, ezpz

IMO the Denon Prime players make the CDJ look stupid in both features and price

from what I've tried to use, the Engine software is usually it's weakness (as if Rekordbox is any sort of positive)

I don't update playlists except in situations I am planning an entire set from scratch

All I need to do is tag new songs and they're added to my genre playlists automatically if they meet the filters

It makes a playlist that includes songs from your library that meet filters you define, for example:

Include Tag: Brony
BPM Range: 120-135

or perhaps

Genre Contains: Drum & Bass
Exclude Tag: [WIP]

or even

Artist Contains: Chang31ing

I'm tellin ya, I'm in love with and addicted to using the auto-filter and auto-populating playlists in the DJ programs to manage genre playlists and letting me exclude something like anime songs, samples, or instrumentals from situations i dont need them
