Darren with MPs Emma Harrison and Mark Gerretsen with the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien. They’re in an office with a Canadian flag, a view of Ottawa outside the window, and they’re seated at a desk. Darren and the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, and he’s giving Darren a “Shawinigan handshake”. Bright and vibrant painting behind them Darren and the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien. Darren is grabbing his own neck and they’re both laughing. Bright and vibrant painting behind him. Darren and the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien shaking hands. Canadian flag next to them and a bright and vibrant painting behind them

A real privilege to spend time with the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien today with colleagues Mark Gerretsen and Emma Harrison.
His mind’s a steel trap, and hearing his perspective on global events and Canadian politics was incredible. Also confirmed: there’s a lot of Shawinigan in that handshake. 🇨🇦😅

What. A. Game. 🥈
Heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat hockey. Not the ending we wanted, but no one can question the grit. That’s a team that left it all on the ice.

Thank you, Team Canada. 🇨🇦

Flags of Allied countries at NATO Headquarters in Brussels where Canada’s flag flies at half mast

The work we do here with our Allies matters internationally, and it matters back home. ❤️
If you look closely at the photo, you’ll see our Canadian flag here at NATO in Brussels remains at half mast out of respect for Tumbler Ridge. 🇨🇦

Representing Canada in rooms like this is something I’ll never take for granted. Dartmouth—Cole Harbour has a proud military tradition, and we’re home to a well-established and growing defence industry.

This type of relationship building deeply matters to me. We continue to discuss the importance of ramping up defence spending, which as you know Canada’s rapidly undertaking, and the need to better coordinate defence procurement with our NATO Allies.

It is free, takes just a few minutes, and allows officials to contact you in case of an emergency at your destination, a natural disaster, civil unrest, or even a personal emergency back home.

A simple step that can make a big difference while you are away.

An incredible Nova Scotian. 🥌💔

I am heartbroken to hear the news that Colleen Jones has passed away. She was fiercely passionate about Canada, a remarkable curler, and a true champion. 🇨🇦

My heart goes out to her family, to all who loved her, and to everyone she inspired.

So proud that Budget 2025 invests $80 million over four years to the Terry Fox Research Institute, supporting their incredible work in cancer research so more Canadians will have access to modern treatments they need to thrive. ❤️

We honour Terry best by continuing the journey he began. 🏃‍♂️

Conservative MP Clifford Small called the National School Food Program “garbage” and said it hasn’t fed one child in Canada.
Thankfully, the kids at Gander Academy know otherwise. 🍔🥗
These reckless comments help no one. Do better.

September 10th, my birthday, 1975. I bought Kiss Alive.

For 50 years now, I’ve rarely gone a week without playing the music of my youth. My passion for music began and grew alongside my passion for this scruffy, chaotic, wonderful rock band.

Every year brought new albums, new sounds, new memories.

The Catman. The Demon. The Starchild.
And the mighty Space Ace, Ace Frehley.

A guitar player that everyone tried to copy for decades. Ace was the man.

Quite possibly the only true musician in the band when it all began.

He was wild. He was wacky. He had the greatest laugh in rock and roll.

Rest easy, Ace.
You meant the world to me.

You’re a legend, always will be. 🎸❤️ KISS albums scattered Colourful KISS, the band albums scattered around

Remembering the legendary #AceFrehley 💔

Another busy week here in Ottawa! 🇨🇦
It’s always a privilege to bring the voices of Dartmouth—Cole Harbour to Parliament—and that sense of honour never fades.

Affordable Housing
Housing is considered affordable when it costs less than 30% of a household's before-tax income, based on the median household income in a given region.

This type of housing is aimed at middle-income households, such as essential workers (e.g., construction workers, care providers, teachers, nurses, etc.).
It reflects what people in the middle of the income spectrum can reasonably afford in their local area. Deeply Affordable Housing
Housing is considered deeply affordable when it costs less than 30% of a household's before-tax income, based on the median income of low- or very-low-income households in a region.

This type of housing supports those with limited or fixed incomes, such as minimum wage earners, low-income seniors, or people receiving social assistance.
It ensures that even the most economically vulnerable can access safe and stable housing, including people experiencing homelessness through housing first approaches and supportive housing options.

I’m pushing to see that we have deeply affordable opportunities in Shannon. I believe rent geared to income and other options in the affordability spectrum are crucial.

Your point is well received.

I’ve attached the two complete explanatory notes from the BCH FAQ
