A painting in mostly pastel colours of a sad and loving looking large owl looking down and to the left, towards some kelp with a sacred heart pinned to their left wing, to their right, a whelk shell sheela na gig is dancing above a scallop shell holding a pearl, the two figures are surrounded by darkness and candyfloss clouds

Another brief, blissful draw without plan or premeditation, hoping to return to it as daily practice: as each time I remember the soft spill is an exceptional analgesic.
I try to be aware of, but not analytical about where these things come from but I was glad Sheela-na-whelk appeared again today

Birding by Rose Ruane. A fabulous book that you should definitely read.

I have just this minute finished listening to Birding by @regretteruane.bsky.social
Having now gathered myself, I just wanted to say that it is a remarkable book with characters so real, they feel like you've already met them. Melancholic, but laced with hope, this is a must read/listen.

Thank you SO much for listening in the first place, let alone responding with such generosity. Words like this are just the absolute dream to hear and I appreciate you taking the time to post them. I’m very grateful for everything about this and you’ve made me incredibly happy, thank you

Nonsense! You’ve at least ten times the wit, charm and aura I do.
And secondly, I look like someone Brundle fly-ed late stage Barbara Cartland & the mum from Rugrats

Always. Their sort of transgressive giggly glee really delights my leathery, wizened old heart

Coward. I doubled down extra hard on my silly little fringe and made sure my lipstick is neon bright and badly applied at all times, and with my big, big specs, it has really paid dividends in teenagers bursting out laughing and whispering things like “Aunt Gladys coded” as I walk by

The Memory Blocks Working again with his daughter Eden, the artist and filmmaker Andrew Kötting explores notions of memory and recall as interpreted through the precarious lens of neurodiversity.

That’s set me ever so emotional in an extremely appreciated way. What an absolute honour.
Also, I couldn’t relate more: something I still can’t quite articulate or understand about Covid did the same to me & it’s been a huge loss & lack in my life until very recently.
Like having an old friend back

A small painting of a massive shelf with a serene human face lighting her pipe with a flaming kewpie doll beside a moon who steals the smoke above some mussel shells and a jellyfish

Ever inspired by the wonderful words of @wildobliquities.bsky.social I have had a little draw & I bring you a smoking Sheela-na-whelk lighting her pipe with a flaming kewpie, all of which flowed out in the most enjoyable way & reminded me what excellent medicine a daily draw is for the old coconut

‎Birding ‎Fiction · 2025

I’ve just finished listening to BIRDING by @regretteruane.bsky.social. I really don’t have the skill to fully express everything I felt along the way, but I couldn’t have found a better story to reignite the shamefully neglected desire to immerse myself in fiction. books.apple.com/gb/audiobook...
