I've been able to look the beast in the eye, say 'I've had worse' and get my sword out, with full faith that I'll survive the fight. Maybe get a few scars. But scars are cool. So fuck it.

So that's where the idea for this piece came from.

Something has shifted. Other times when things have been this hard, I've been in a long tunnel. No space for hope or joy. No faith or ability to see that I'll get out the other end.

Lately that has been different. I've been able to grab joy where I can *knowing* I will survive the shit.

'I've had worse' a #WIP painting. We're at the stage of the messy, bizarre underpainting!

Friends, it's been a rough start to the year on all kinds of levels. But I have noticed something, while I've been feeling so damn rough. -
