MedPage EIC @jeremyfaust.bsky.social reported that at least three members of the CDC's Advisory Committee to the Director have been fired.
The terminated members were newly appointed with terms that were supposed to start on July 1. @jennifernuzzo.bsky.social

Iβm not a Senator. While I agree that she is liked by some scientists who know her, I would imagine that her being at the helm of the CDC during a period of unprecedented censorship (the early weeks of this administration) did not sit well. Clearly not her idea, but she was unable to stop it.

David, that sounds about right.

Will she be able to overrule Kennedy?
Is she a leader? Or a place-holder?
Is the she leader of the CDC in name or in reality?
Much depends on this. 2/2
The CDC finally has a Director. (Once sworn in).
This leads to what may be one of the most profoundly important questions in the history of US public health.
Will Dr. Susan Monarez have the power, will, and ability to stop RFK jr. from dismantling what remains of the agencyβs credibility? 1/2
Power panel starts at 3pm ET.

RFK Jr. threatens to overhaul evidence-based preventive services in the United States.
In a perfect world, most people wouldnβt have to know what the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) is. But now that the Wall St Journal has reported that HHS Sec RFKjr

I did my best to break it down and explain whatβs at stake this fall in the latest edition of Inside Medicine on Substackβ¦ 4/
That means routine flu shots could suddenly be harder to get, not because the science suddenly changed, but due to changes in coverage.

Most people will still have access, but cracks in the system are showing. For kids whose vaccines are usually covered by government programs, access may shift to the Vaccines for Children program, which is limited to specific providersβ¦.2/

In 2010, the Supreme Court decided the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments, allowing states to enact more permissive gun laws.
Since then, there have been 6,000+ excess firearm deaths among children in states with the most permissive gun laws, according to a new study.
