I signed. This incident is ridiculous. And it was not just one instance of racism.

Endorsements from 50 women don’t cancel out credible reports of misogynistic slurs, and they don’t erase a racist noose case in Bloomfield. If Brendan Gill wants to lead, he should answer hard questions about sexism and racism, not hide behind curated lists and campaign branding.

And finally: are you still fully standing by and promoting Mayor Jenny Mundell’s endorsement on your “50 trailblazing women” list while the township she leads is defending itself in a racist noose case brought by a Black firefighter?

So my questions for @BrendanGill (and his supporters) are simple:

Do you support Patrick Thomas in seeking justice in this federal lawsuit?

Have you met with him or publicly called for accountability in Bloomfield?

What concrete action are you taking beyond statements and photo ops?

One of Gill’s “50+ trailblazing women” endorsing him is Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell – the mayor of the township now being sued by Patrick Thomas over that racist noose case.

Meanwhile, in Bloomfield, Black firefighter Patrick Thomas has filed a $25 million federal civil-rights lawsuit alleging a racist, hostile environment in the fire department, centered on repeated noose incidents and slurs, naming the township, fire leadership, and a fellow firefighter.

Bloomberg has reported that Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky says she was called a gendered slur while working on Phil Murphy’s 2017 campaign — by then–campaign manager Brendan Gill. These are not anonymous rumors; they’re on-the-record allegations.

Brendan Gill is touting endorsements from “over fifty trailblazing women” to bolster his image with women voters. That’s not the same as reckoning with past and present harm.
