Update router firmware

Most people NEVER do this.

Router settings → Firmware update.

Old firmware = slower performance.

Change WiFi channel

In router settings:
Switch channel from “Auto” to a less crowded one.

Apartments especially suffer from channel congestion.

This alone boosted my speed massively.

Kick unknown devices

Login to router → Connected devices.

Remove:
• Old phones
• Unknown devices
• Neighbors (yes, it happens)

More devices = slower speed.

Switch to 5GHz

Login to router settings.
Enable 5GHz band.

Faster speeds.
Less interference.

Best for streaming & gaming.

Move your router

Don’t hide it:
• Not inside cabinets
• Not behind TV
• Not on the floor

Place it:
• Center of house
• Elevated
• Away from walls

Signal spreads outward.

Restart your router properly

Unplug it.
Wait 5 full minutes.
Plug back in.

Not 10 seconds.
5 minutes.

This clears memory overload.

WIFI SLOW? FIX THIS NOW.

I went from 18 Mbps to 146 Mbps.

Same router.
Same internet plan.

7. Reduce camera storage going forward

In Camera settings:
• Lower video from 4K to 1080p (if you don’t need 4K)
• Disable HDR video if unnecessary

Huge space difference long-term.

6. Clean your Downloads folder

Open Files → Downloads

Delete:
• Old PDFs
• Duplicate images
• Random ZIP files
• Forgotten videos

This folder quietly becomes a digital junk drawer.

5. Stop auto-downloading EVERYTHING

Photos, videos, podcasts, offline playlists…

Turn off auto-download in:
• Streaming apps
• Podcast apps
• Cloud drives

Most phones fill silently in the background.

4. Offload unused apps

Apps you haven’t opened in months? Remove them.

📱 iPhone:
Settings → App Store → Enable “Offload Unused Apps”

🤖 Android:
Settings → Apps → Sort by Last Used

Delete what you don’t use.

You can always reinstall later.

3. Kill duplicate photos & screenshots

Open Photos → Search → Screenshots / Duplicates

Delete:
• Old screenshots
• Blurry photos
• Random memes
• Repeated downloads

I deleted 3.2GB in 5 minutes.

2. Delete app caches (not the app).

Some apps store GBs of junk.

🤖 Android:
Settings → Apps → Select app → Storage → Clear Cache

📱 iPhone:
Delete & reinstall heavy apps (this clears cache automatically).

Instagram, TikTok & Chrome are usually huge.

1. Find what’s ACTUALLY eating your storage

Don’t guess.

📱 On iPhone:
Settings → General → iPhone Storage

🤖 On Android:
Settings → Storage

You’ll see apps sorted by size.

Most people are shocked by what’s on top.

If your phone storage is ALWAYS full, do this NOW.

Mine was stuck at 94% full.
Now it sits at 52%.

No new phone.
No paid apps.
