To shitposter, thanks for everything, Julie Newmar.
Nope. Doctor Nonce as far as I am concerned.
I still get earwormed by his songs for the best part of 50 years on, but I don't actually listen to them. It's difficult when your hero turns out to be a villain :-(
Old person here. I never talk about my childhood infatuation with Gary Glitter, because he's still alive and could get paid royalties if youngsters look him up on Sp@£!fy. Granted it's 0.000005 pence, but I never want him to get another penny, despite his undeniable influence on '70s Glam Rock.
Same. Except that about 20 - 30% of music turns out to be unlistenable dreck. I try really hard to appreciate everything I hear. The struggle is real. But 20 - 30% is unlistenable dreck, and that is not my fault.
It was. He is a great songwriter, so much more than one riff. But that one riff...
Oh, I guess you loved Fairytale Of New York? NO! This is the motherlode right here: youtu.be/swQNNjXztsI?...
Drop an album that was important when you were 19. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Sh...
Still love Fuzzy. Still gets rotation in this house. Grant Lee Phillips came to Glasgow for Celtic Connections. Of COURSE we were there...
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a couple in their fifties will arrive at this level of romance on Valentine's Day.
I have, in my late 50s, just finally got my teeth 'fixed' after nearly 30 years of avoiding it. Creamola Foam is not blameless in this matter.
(Sorry about the spelling of 'neuropsychology', it's Saturday night, and I have been drinking)
I see pink and green, but I am aware of the bizarre way that we actually percieve colour because I did a few modules of neurophsychology. Look up 'Opponent Process Theory of Colo(u)r Vision.' Also, I am a man and do not know what Teal is. I see eight colours, like a Windows 95 computer in Safe Mode.
In a Glasgow rehearsal studio. There was security outside Room 1, so a big name in there. I wanted to use the loo, but there was a queue, so I nipped into the office to use the staff loo - I've been using this studio for 30 years - and the boss said "Do you know who last used that loo? Beyoncé".
I am an ex-drummer due to injuries, but still a double bass player due to lack of applicable injuries. Still wish I could play drums, though. youtu.be/s4rXEKtC8iY?...
So, I bought myself a Brennan B3 #BrennanB3 for Christmas / my backdated pay rise. Since then I have ripped 35 years' worth of CDs onto it. Some of the oldest won't read, some of the newest are too new for the database. Tonight I hit 'Random Play' for the first time. Let the games commence...
Has anyone Skeeted / Tweeted "WOKE MARXIST QUEEN!" yet?
I can't decide:
The unbearable lightness of sausage, or;
The unbearable sausage of being.
What's the plan, Chuck? I run a fake news website. You're the Senate Minority Leader. What's the plan?
A dosette box is a good idea. They cost about £2 in Home Bargains. We used one for our dog Molly, who developed epilepsy later in life. That way, we both knew if the pill was gone, the other one of us had already administered it.
I lost a friend over my article about the murder of Renee Nicole Good.
He was angry I called out the underlying misogyny.
He was mad I didn’t give ICE the benefit of the doubt.
He made it personal.
He told me my “stupid clown hair” is why people don’t take me seriously
We visited Auschwitz Birkenau today. I didn't take any pictures, it didn't seem appropriate. A lot of people did, though. Selfies in front of the "ARBEIT MACHT FREI" gate. I have a problem with Nazis and people doing Nazi stuff, but JFC I have a problem with these people too. #Auschwitz #Holocaust
The music business did this for years: hype up a single from an artist who is declining in popularity, release the single, then go and buy half of them back yourself, and spin it in the press as a resurgence.
I really try. Sometimes I just don't get it, and I have to concede that I am right and this music is pants. I'm sure somebody likes it, just not me.
There is a reason we call it 'tuning up'. If you are sharp, tune that sucker down way flat, then tune *up* to the right pitch. Never tune down and trust it. Tune up. Too sharp? Go low, then tune *up*. You think guitars are bad? Try playing double bass. 6 1/2 feet of badly behaved steel and wood.
It's not New Year at 9am tomorrow. Timekeeping as accurate as messaging, then?
another robot highlight for 2025: man wearing humanoid mocap suit kicks himself in the balls
Leaf fall (on the line).
I am primarily a bassist, so I'll go for watts every time, but I'll also go for tone through speaker cabinets. I currently go for a 2 X 10" with a 500w Hartke head., fills any room that doesn't come with -EC at the end of it. IMHO a Bantamp is a brilliant practice amp with a 1 X 10" cab.
