Regular ol’ middle-aged Midwestern mom: Vegetarian. Heart attack survivor. I was dead-ish for about five minutes. Tongue-tied. No middle name. Ate fire once. She/her. That about covers it.

"does the president know what is real and what is not" is a legitimate question that should probably get asked a lot more

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

I own a different version of this one, a port-a-potty play set that includes a construction worker with his own newspaper to read while he relieves himself.

I love Playmobil’s extremely specific characters and designs. Like, a firefighter performing a snake rescue—sure, why not!

There are lots of more glaring and physically brutal basic violations of rights going on but it’s weird how ICE just seems to be freely stealing and wrecking people’s possessions too

I’m a heart attack survivor and acetaminophen is pretty much the only OTC painkiller I’m allowed to take, but I do so very cautiously. I recall hearing as a teen about my uncle’s buddy—an alcoholic who used Tylenol to treat his hangovers, a one-two punch to his liver that led to his early death.

i did the dismal math on this recently and i haven’t gone more than a year without losing a loved one since i was a teenager. most years it’s more like every ~6 months. tell people you love them, man. tell it to them all the time even if it feels embarrassing

🚨NEW: For the first time in history, the single largest group of people arrested in the interior and sent to ICE detention is people with NO criminal record.

As of yesterday's data release, 40%(!) of those arrested in the interior and detained by ICE had no prior conviction or pending charges.

Noah Builds the Ark
"Story of Noah' series
Brussels-Brabant, 1563-1566
Tapestry; gold, silver, silk and wool
In 1556, Philip II acquired a set of tapestries that told the story of Noah. However, in 1559 the ship carrying them to Spain sank and only two hangings were saved, so the king ordered another set in 1562. It originally consisted of ten tapestries, only three of which are still extant: one shows God commanding Noah to build the ark, another depicts the disembarkation after the flood, and the third is this scene, where the biblical patriarch is giving his sons instructions on how to build the ark. For the borders, Philip II chose his coats of arms and a few animals alluding to the four elements silhouetted against a landscape in the background, whose painstaking details must have posed quite a technical challenge. This tapestry arrived in Madrid in 1566 and was displayed in emblematic settings like the Monastery of El Escorial.

The debate around what is or isn’t “cancel culture” really just obscures a simple truth that it’s BAD to be massively racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic and it’s GOOD to speak out against injustice. Some things are good and some things are bad and it’s okay to say which you think are which.

That Cardboard Box in Your Home Is Fueling Election Denial A previously unreported boom in profits for the shipping supply giant Uline has provided the funds for a deeply conservative Midwestern family to bankroll anti-democracy causes around the country.

Much of the cardboard and paper goods strewn about our homes are sold by a single private company, with its name, Uline, stamped on the bottom.

Many may not know that a multibillion-dollar fortune made on those ubiquitous products fuels far-right candidates across the country.
