7. Empower the Marginalized: Promote diversity and inclusion in science. Amplify the voices of underrepresented groups and ensure that everyone has a seat at the scientific table. Science should be a force for equality and justice.

6. Interdisciplinary Anarchy: Break down the silos between scientific disciplines. Encourage collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas to foster innovation. The best ideas often come from unexpected intersections.

5. Eco-Rebellion: Fight for the planet. Advocate for sustainable and ethical scientific practices that respect the environment and all living beings. Science must serve the Earth, not exploit it.

4. Anti-Consumerism: Reject the commercialisation of science. Advocate for open access to scientific knowledge and oppose profit-driven research agendas. Knowledge should be shared freely, not hoarded for profit.

1. Question Authority: Challenge the established norms and question the status quo. Don't accept scientific dogma without critical examination. Be relentless in your pursuit of truth and understanding.

3. Celebrate Failure: Recognise that failure is a vital part of the scientific process. Learn from mistakes, iterate and improve. Each misstep is a stepping stone to success and innovation.

I feel this way too. I feel I should be posting about #hpbio, environmental ethics, conservation, 🌎 etc. And sometimes I do post on those things. But all of that depends on a functioning democracy & we don’t have one right now. Plus direct threats to the envt from 🪚&🍊. I guess this is my “apology.”

If FEMA didn’t exist, could states handle the disaster response alone? FEMA pools national resources to help states quickly manage disasters. Without that federal support, each state would be left to build its own expensive response capabilities.

First national analysis finds America's butterflies are disappearing at 'catastrophic' rate America's butterflies are disappearing because of insecticides, climate change and habitat loss, with the number of the winged beauties down 22% since 2000, a new study finds.

Butterfly populations falling on average 1.3% per year in the continental US, with some populations falling by as much as 40%. With 650 recorded species, only 342 were present in enough numbers to calculate trends.
