I think OP meant, "how is possible that <what you said>"
i.e. how is possible that we continue to allow the police to just do nothing useful, while spending huge sums

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.
(15 in Manhattan btw)
honestly I was going to troll them but then I saw your response and I was like... that's already too much

24.12.2025 15:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree, and there is a lot more comfortable, covered space which is excellent. But as a regular user, I don't really understand why it's... so huge? It's actually quite unhelpful that the buses are so far apart now because I often have only seconds to make a quick transfer.
24.12.2025 15:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just caught the bus there!
15.12.2025 16:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Given how we've seen AI work in other contexts, it's reasonable to expect that you could give your agent specific instructions and have a conversation to refine your criteria and choices. I'm not excited about this, but I do think it'll make things so easy it will be widely adopted.
20.11.2025 16:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0lol I'm seeing this exactly as I'm just pulling up Detroiters on my own dedicated Netflix account. honestly worth the high price, what a great show
15.11.2025 03:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh I don't disagree, he just hasn't been charged with any crimes, so there is nothing to pardon.
05.11.2025 18:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't think this is a criminal case.
05.11.2025 15:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Does anyone know when the hearing will take place, and how to follow it?
05.11.2025 15:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah I'm looking at the chart and like... AI and railroads are totally different?
01.11.2025 01:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you for this important information. My family needs this sandwich.
31.10.2025 16:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't know the ins and outs of emergency response, but it seems like there are plenty of wider streets (eg Lombard St) that can be used. The bike lane doesn't seem like the best option for emergency vehicles, to me. That said, fully support automated enforcement too!
27.10.2025 16:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0OK. I get that. My take on this is based on my experience managing a food pantry and eviction prevention program. So perhaps you can see why your posts come across as dismissive. Not everyone "in the field" shares your views, for many good and practical reasons.
27.10.2025 16:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm listening, I just disagree. I also dislike your assumption that yours is the only knowledgeable opinion here β did you consider that others might have experience and knowledge as well?

Hey just chiming in to say you're totally right! Anyone who argues that people who "don't need it" are getting assistance are making assumptions about those people that can't be verified. We don't always know what people need.
Also the cost of "verification" is a fucking waste of resources!
This is (horrifically) a great example of how protected bike lanes make the road safer for EVERYONE. Even other drivers!! That car should not have been able to drive there.
We need physical barriers against aggressive driving.
I found that just changing my home screens and icons to black and white made a huge difference for me and my compulsive phone-checking when way down. This is a great tip!

Yes please!! Open Streets has been awesome and has enabled me to explore center city with my toddler in a way that would otherwise be impossible.
Can we got some Open Streets up in Manayunk/Roxborough too?
This is truly an amazing tool. Previously I had PPA on speed dial β this is much easier!
Question: What does the dropdown that starts with "How frequently does this o..." say/do? I can't see the full text on my phone. Should I mark "frequently" in areas where violations occur often?
THANK YOU <3
Thank you for speaking up β₯οΈ
10.07.2025 12:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Absolutely agree, but even putting the guardrail in between the trail and the road would help so much. Why did they put the guardrail BEHIND the trail?
10.07.2025 12:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you for highlighting this! I bike this stretch daily. It's incredibly tight and dangerous, and the cars appear to think they're merging into the interstate because they are typically going 40+ MPH. Several times, I've seen cars pulled fully onto the path and blocking it completely.
10.07.2025 12:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good point. I think we need to praise the idea and purpose of free transit. While also strongly nudging the conversation towards frequency, reliability, and expansion instead, of course. Possible to do both!
09.07.2025 02:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We've been using ours for years and it's unreal how much less stuff we put into the trash!
06.07.2025 14:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The article makes no sense. The goal is to increase the availability of parking. Isn't that a core part of PPA's function? You despise them for doing their job? Plus parking is very cheap already!
01.07.2025 14:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here is a list I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits. Defense of democracy seen as basic to the job. Symmetrical accounts of asymmetrical realities seen as malpractice. βPolitics as strategic gameβ frame seen as low quality, downmarket, amateurishβ and overmatched. Bad actors with a history of misinforming the public seen as unsuitable sources and unwelcome guests. Internalizing of the βliberal biasβ critique seen as self-crippling, a historic mistake in need of correction.
