06.12.2025 01:32 β π 25 π 3 π¬ 3 π 3βYou Were Never Lovelierβ is quite good (gorgeous score by Kern and Mercer), and Iβm pretty sure I saw it on the schedule for this month. π
06.12.2025 01:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I havenβt seen it in 50 years, but I hope I wonβt be spoiling things when I say that the tagline is a wee bit hyperbolic. π However, I remember enjoying it β the score is superb, for starters β and it was the Columbia loan-out that made Kelly a star, when MGM couldnβt figure out what to do with him.
05.12.2025 23:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes! As you say, he stays a dick for an awfully long time β and so even though you figure heβs going to have an eventual change of heart, he makes it seem like there isnβt enough time left to make it convincing. And then he *does* make it convincing. A very impressive piece of acting, I thought.
05.12.2025 23:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm embarrassed to say, I donβt know his work as well as I should. I think Iβve seen a half-dozen of his films, but this movie made me think that after I finish Ann Harding, Morris should be my next binge. FYI, Philip is an actor, and much tougher on actors than I am; he thought he was sensational.
05.12.2025 23:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Remember the Night is one of our holiday staples, as is Bachelor Mother and β for reasons I canβt explain, since thereβs nothing holiday-ish about it β The Lady Vanishes. (Maybe itβs the snow. π€·ββοΈ) Iβve been wanting to see It Happened on 5th Avenue, and was delighted to see that TCM is showing it. π
05.12.2025 23:01 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And John, I donβt know if you saw my post today, but I watched Repeat Performance yesterday. Thank you for another sterling recommendation. π
05.12.2025 18:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh, youβre so welcome. It was such a treat. I think I had started it a few years ago, but for some reason got distracted and never got back to it. I was so very glad I returned. π
05.12.2025 16:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Loved it. Suspenseful and atmospheric, full of great supporting characters β and Agnes Mooreheadβs exit was sensational. And you were so right about the ending β itβs so nice to see a film like this not shy away from a satisfying conclusion. π
05.12.2025 16:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It was superb β and Morris was extraordinary. π

04.12.2025 02:25 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I really thought that before he left the house, William Bendix was going to move that column a foot to the right β because it was just a tall pedestal or something β thus exposing that the father really did it after all. π π #CoverUp #FilmNoirClub
