Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

It's also, arguably, important to be able to compartmentalize how you feel about a thing from the objective reality of that thing. Example in reverse: for lots of people, their childhood love for Harry Potter means they can't accept that their support of the franchise today harms trans people.

By saying that it's only legitimate to dislike someone when they're a terrible person, we start to normalize the opposite -- the idea that if the vibes are off, clearly there must be a deep dark *reason* for it. That seems... dangerous to me.

It's okay to just dislike something or someone. It's a really valuable skill to be able to dislike someone and also accept that there's nothing wrong with them or bad about them.

There's something really incredible about "truly wireless" earbuds. Even with the weird, relatively low bandwidth Bluetooth, they manage to (usually) keep the audio in perfect phase. Very small batteries, radios, drivers, all in perfect synchrony. Wild.

That said... this is also a very creepy technology with deeply concerning privacy, security, and ethical implications, and I wouldn't use it for that reason alone. But aside from that, I think the *concept* could either enhance or detract from our humanity, depending on how the users use it.

Similarly, if I had a bracelet that took note of every time I said to a friend "oh cool, I'll have to look into that", and relayed that info back to me later, I wouldn't have to rely on my very weak memory or manual artifact creation in order to recall those opportunities for further connection.

These moments tear me away from in-the-moment connection, and into artifact creation/retrieval.

So I love tools like Google Maps Timeline. It's autonomously creating artifacts that I can look back on, and call to mind rich memories simply by seeing where I was at any given moment in the past.

When I'm hanging with friends, I somewhat despise every moment that I "need" to take out my phone. Whether it's to look up something I want to share, to take a note of something my friend told me about that I want to check out later, whatever.

Despite carrying around a phone with a camera everywhere I go, I rarely think to take pictures when I'm doing/seeing something delightful. I want to be "in the moment", and not worrying about creating an artifact so that I can better remember it later.

I see what you mean, honestly... but as someone who sees AI as generally a blight on society, if this could be created *ethically* (which I doubt it can), I would love a product like this, at least in theory. Let me see if I can explain haha.
