Legislature passes bill to protect immigrants at Oregon hospitals A bill that aims to protect patients from immigration enforcement in Oregon health care facilities is heading to Gov. Tina Kotek’s desk.

The Oregon House passed SB 1587, banning state and local agencies from sharing personal data with data brokers if the info will be used for immigration enforcement.

Oregonians must be able to trust that our critical information is protected.

Stacked images of a person testifying in a public hearing with the text, "This legislation is critical to safeguarding patient privacy, protecting healthcare providers from growing criminalization threats, and ensuring that all Oregonians can access medically necessary care" Stacked images of a person testifying with the text, "without fear of discrimination, retaliation, or legal risk. The current climate of uncertainty due to risk of retaliation from outside states has very real consequences if left unchecked." Stacked images of a person testifying with the text, "Providers may hesitate to offer care in vitally saving moments, patients may delay or avoid seeking treatment and confidential health information may be put at risk."

As Oregonians believe that personal health care decisions should be made by individuals and our health care providers — not by politicians and the government.

Tell lawmakers to vote yes on HB 4088A to strengthen patient and provider privacy.

The State of the Union speech was more of the same from this president. Donald Trump is pandering to billionaire bosses while ignoring working people who are struggling to get by.

This is good news, but the Senate must pass the bill as well. Immigrants deserve to live their lives free from unchecked violence, discrimination and intimidation.

Federal agents deployed tear gas on thousands of union members, families, and community members while we protested peacefully today.

This was an attack on working people and an unacceptable escalation from federal agents in Portland.
