Of course I commented to point out the error. Turns out Jayce was the one who had posted it, so he sent me a private message to nerd out about math and physics. We’ve been talking online almost daily since, though we only met in person for the first time a few days ago.

Strawpoll question: how do you and Jayce know each other? It sounds like you were online friends first?

We were both annoying know it all teens. I found a post online when I was maybe thirteen or fourteen of someone bragging about this complex equation they’d solved, posted their work and everything. I’ll admit, I was impressed…until I realized they’d forgotten to carry a two halfway through.

He’s calmed down a little by now, but he spent a good 10-15 minutes sulking. He kept sighing then looking at me like he expected me to cave and say he’s right even though he definitely isn’t.

I was not expecting to work closely with Viktor at the company, but there's plenty of opportunity and 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥, as I understand it. It makes sense. It would be difficult to design and build equipment without input from the more biology-minded side of things. His input is already the reason I'm here.

Dimitri was nothing but friendly to you, Jayce.

I know that this week is largely just for getting acquainted with the job and settling in, but I still find myself excited to be heading back to the lab. I’m eager to get my hands dirty.

Despite what Jayce seems to think, I had a really good day today. Here’s hoping that tomorrow will be the same.

It is very good. But you don’t hear me moaning after every bite.

The food here is overpriced but, admittedly, delicious. Unfortunately, the sounds coming from across the table are obscene. I’m doing my best to pretend @engineering-tmrw.bsky.social is eating like a normal person, but he is not making it easy.

Perhaps I could be persuaded.

The past couple of days have been some of the best of my life. Finally meeting Jayce in person, moving in together, starting at the lab…I’m not really the sentimental type, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more happy or grateful for all that I have. Things are looking up.

Orientation is wrapping up now. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ll be coming back here almost every day for hopefully a very long time, I wouldn’t want to leave.

This is like a dream. I’ve never seen such a well equipped lab before. I can hardly believe this is really happening.

We made it in time, we’re with our orientation group now. As it turns out, I was not underdressed. I’m actually fitting in about as well as can be expected, given the cane. Jayce, on the other hand…

I want it documented that Jayce just let himself into my room, looked at me like a kicked puppy, and now we have to go if we don’t want to be late. Which also likely means we will, in fact, have to walk in together. It is truly a cruel world.

As if you wouldn’t look good in any color. Jayce, you have given me no time to change lest we run the risk of being late, and even if there was time, I don’t own anything that nice. I’m going to stick out like a sore thumb.
