If you havent, perhapse check out nearby college/research centers websites and see if they offer courses or classes in that field. Then can ask around for recommendations and contacts from there. Maybe find an understudy or apprenticeship for it.

A lot of clinics have a website to do so. Tho some independent practitioners may do phone calls. Which imo, scary, but easiest way to kinda get a quick feel for what the Dr is like. Outside of that, its kinda trial and error. I also recommend writing down your thoughts/concerns b4 sessions-

Location, budget, preferences.
Find an office within your zone.
Find one that isnt a million dollars (sadly its kinda expensive either way sometimes).
And find a Dr who's profile you already resonate with. Generally you can reach out and ask of they are taking new patients via email or form. -
