And Kelleher cooly smacking in what turned out to be the winner.

I still can’t believe that Virgil scored that penalty against Kepa in the shootout against Chelsea in the first league cup win.
What were they all thinking??
Can't look at the league table today. Would drive me mad.
What a missed opportunity that was.
I'm furious the way half the team conspired to produce that comedy of errors that led to that inevitable Wolves winner.
but doesn't that suggest that all other managers/coaches are underperforming, struggling, sleep walking to mediocrity too?
Slot needs a full, fit squad and this mournful slog of a season off his back.
We missed a good chance to go 3rd, true. But 3rd? In a season this turgid is as good as it gets atm
wish they'd practiced this move more. they seemed to have no idea what to do in this position.

I think we can say that they are reasonably cohesive - a 2 goal win would have taken them up to 3rd - but they're still completely lacking any level of consistency in their cohesion, even within halves of a game.
Certainly, I've learned never to say "well, surely it can't get any worse".
A head coach's job is to expect the best out of elite athletes.
This is not happening either.
You know what's weird, if you watch LFC's "Inside Anfield" of the West Ham game, it shows that Cody Gakpo was involved in absolutely everything. He looks like a world beater, progressing the ball, laying on chances, scoring a goal. It's just him running at their defence. Feels counterintuitive.

..trying to find their way back. Knowing they're a shit show & trying to work out how not to be.
I think they can and will find their way back.
It's why I want Slot to stay. I want him to survive this turgid, mournful season and be given the chance for something fresh again in better circumstances.
All he could do was push things on, slowly and surely, hoping for things to go well, hoping everyone could cope, hoping that nothing else would go wrong.
We all know now how it's actually going and while it's far far away from what we all want, I still see everyone fighting for their lives...
But Arne's dream of being his own man, bringing in his own demands, standards, and dreams was shot to pieces. No way could he be bollocking or blaming anyone for anything on the pitch. No way could he be seen to be heartlessly pursuing excellence again so soon after their friend had been lost.

Football was meaningless. Plans were put on ice. Sporting demands, expectations, talk of competing seemed futile and twisted. No one could face the immediate future.
As fans we applauded him and the players for their strength. We forgave them their lack of focus and energy. We hoped they'd recover.
....he planned to introduce more of his own ideas and own demands to make us dominant in European football.
But on day one of preseason, instead of laying down new laws, new targets, new expectations, he was having to deliver eulogies and comfort heartbroken people all around him....
He'd spent last season pointing out that all he was doing was reminding the players that it was THEY who'd built the standards LFC expects and he now challenged them to reach the bar THEY had set for themselves. It worked.
This season was to be different. As a champion, with his own squad and ideas
New approach...one of being Best In Class. So, rather than developing players, they bring in the highest quality for each position. A head coach (not manager) who shouldn't need to instil a work ethic, winning mentality, game intelligence into his players. Just instruct them & expect them to deliver
04.03.2026 00:16 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I bet Slot couldn't wait to get the players back together for preseason after winning the league "with Klopp's team" and keeping his head down and nose clean. The club decided to stop being a team that thrived on being the underdog and would start behaving like champions. New, better, players....
04.03.2026 00:16 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I remember, when we were boss, watching other teams play and thinking how relatively poor they were, how many individual mistakes they made, how bad they were on the ball, how their mentality was weak, and how inconsistent they were and felt so thankful that I didn't have to support that shit.
03.03.2026 23:41 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Can’t believe I spent all day looking forward to that.
03.03.2026 22:40 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Not entirely on him, all part of a comedy of errors involving half the team. We seemed determined to throw that game away.

Could see that exact wolves winner coming from the moment Curtis brilliantly won the ball back then made exactly the wrong decision about what to do with it.
Shambles.
Was our best player but had way way way too much to do.
03.03.2026 22:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Chelsea can catch us again now. And United could get away from us.. Hurray!
03.03.2026 22:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I hate it when our players play like big headed cunts who think they can’t lose the ball. Some embarrassing stuff towards the end of the game.

Not a lot to do with tactics but a lot to do with players unable to take a corner or clear a ball properly.
Shameful how they finished that game.
Thrown it away. Deserved that. Absolutely asking for trouble. Shit by Dom then Curtis then Alison.
03.03.2026 22:07 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Gomez nearly hit that. Changed his mind last second and slammed it out of play anyway. Should have shot. Would have gone in.

FFS Mo. wtf was that?
Ridiculous.
Well, it’s why you keep Salah on.
That’s the old saying.
We have to find the winner.
