Why Electric Literature Is Leaving Twitter - Electric Literature X has become a dystopian shadow of itself—and a very bad place for literature

Today, we're officially leaving Twitter, along with our friends @literaryhub.bsky.social. We're happy to be here on Bluesky, but we hope you'll also connect with us the “old-fashioned” way: by getting our emails and going to our site! Read the full statement from Halimah Marcus: buff.ly/4aNcHae

Was looking forward to giving myself some downtime after finishing my latest novel revisions but now that it’s here I don’t know what to do with myself?? It’s only been two days and I’m already about to start scraping the barrels of old short story ideas just to keep my occupied

Image from the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival, featuring an author photo of myself as the winner of the 2025 fiction contest, and the runners-up, Megan Morrison and Lance Nixon Photo of my reading at a podium at TWFest

AWP was a blast, and I had the bonus experience of heading to New Orleans after for the Tennessee Williams Festival, where I read an excerpt from my winning story, “The Imposter”! A huge thank you to the festival coordinators and to Chin-Sun Lee for selecting the story. It was an honor!

Some days “I’m like maybe I don’t have ADD!” Then other days I make 4 separate purchases at CVS because I keep checking out and then remembering something else I was supposed to get, then get home and realized I forgot my keys, then even later discover my keys were in my pocket all along.

To Tell My Disabled Stories, I Needed to Unlearn Ableist Workshop Critiques - Electric Literature I masked in workshop and on the page, even as it invalidated my lived experience

For @electriclit.bsky.social I wrote about common microaggressions in the ableist writing workshop, ways disabled writers can resist in order to reclaim their stories, and my @sundresspub.bsky.social craft book NERVE.

A poster for the economic blackout on February 28. It is a big red Jack rabbit on an aqua blue back ground. It says economic blackout in hand done black type. There are two black speech bubbles. One says “don’t buy stuff Friday February 28th. The other says we have power. Below it says No Amazon, Walmart, target, gas food, gas. Below that it says OK small business, use cash. Designed by Martha Rich.

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

This is just my personal opinion, but I feel like the letter Q comes way too early in the alphabet. It just obviously belongs in the XYZ zone. There’s no valid reason for it to come before RST. Sure, it fits nicely in the song but in practice? Never felt right to me idk

Winter hats aren’t made to be liked. Winter hats are meant to be acquired as a gift or in desperation at a gift shop somewhere or as a teen and then kept forever, and every time you put it on you should go, “I hate this stupid fucking hat” but never get a new one. That’s what hats are all about

We Were Teens Seeking the Attention of Men, and They Could Smell It on Us - Electric Literature John wasn’t special. He was just the only one of those guys who put his hands on me. That’s why he gets a story.

Loved working on this essay with Sarah Gerard, highly recommended giving it a read

For our first Christmas married, Sam and I have started a tradition where anytime we’re in a store together in December, one of us can issue a “stocking stuffer challenge”: we split up and get a small gift of the same type (e.g., “snack under $5”) for our stockings. Very fun, highly recommend!

While putting laundry away, I heard a tiny meow. Start looking around for my cat. Finally, I open the drawer where I just put my pajamas away, and who do I find but my cat, poking her head out from between the clothes I’d just unknowingly piled in front of her secret burrowing spot

My life is an endless Groundhog Day of waking up and going “shit, I need to do laundry today,” promptly forgetting, then at the end of the night going, “okay, TOMORROW though I REALLY have to do laundry”
