The worst thing that happened at Nuit Blanche when I opened my studio is someone said my paintings looked like acrylic

To open my studio for Nuit Blanche on Saturday or not...that is the question

While the right panel is about independence, isolation, and inner work, this panel is about the companions we sometimes find in those moments and how they enrich our experience. How we learn from each other, grow and heal together.

The only part of the Bible to mention Lilith is Isaiah 34:14, “And the wild beasts of the desert will meet here with howling creatures, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; Lilith also shall settle there and find for herself a place of rest.”

And now for the second panel of the diptych, it is titled “The Companions”, oil on canvas, 60” x 72”, oil on canvas, 2024-2025.

Writing is so weird. I can be like, I don’t want to write. I feel like a bag of hot garbage and my brain is goo. But then I sit down and actually do it and the words come out and arrange themselves somehow like ✨ magic ✨

I love to write but I'm not sure about myself. Perhaps in poetry form, if poems still exist in me. Is anyone else thinking about such things? Social media seems so untenable these days.

For one, I'm only about halfway through it (I hope), and two, I just don't expect to ever be able to publish such a thing. I think the details of my life will remain in my mind and heart and fragments will appear in paintings and be discussed among friends.

But then I'm concerned about writing anything I care about in long form publicly, since it is all used by AI. I just don't know. Perhaps more for thoughts on art, painting, and life but nothing I would hope to actually publish. I've often been told I should write a book about my life but...

Thinking of using social media less and blogging/newsletters more. I miss writing in coherent thoughts that don't disappear into the ethers within seconds. I miss slower, more thoughtful, less instantly gratifying communication.

I don’t think there’s any context where acrylic paint is or looks good unless the artist has an allergy or health concern regarding oil paint. It is plastic and looks like it, the surface always looks less interesting when inspected

The Belgo Rentrée open studio and The Artist Confluence Winter Winter parties were both successful and well-attended, grateful for everyone who came out. Now to withdraw into forest hermitude to recharge my batteries and catch up on the work that pays
