I just keep thinking of all the ways I would cover this current moment in and out of the art industry based on my previous experience reporting on finance and economics

It is kind of wild how the Trump tariffs and now the war in Iran have affected the global economy in the span of a little over a year

it is such an enormous privilege for me to go to Costco and buy myself and my family whatever I want, even with the understanding of how many of those purchases improve my daily life and are often cheaper than many other retailers

This adds to so much decision fatigue on a daily basis.

I wrote and deleted so many replies to this, but when I worked at Quartz and Business Insider, I was not allowed to buy stocks, only ETFs and things like the 401k work match program

Calgary Public Library announces residency for an artist who uses AI. Not everyone is on board | CBC News The library is offering a 10-week community engagement residency, to be awarded to one artist β€œin any discipline who [uses] AI ethically as a collaborative partner in their creative process,” the CPL ...

The headline here is kinda ambiguous. When I first read it, I thought they announced a new artist in residence, and it was someone who has used AI in their art.

Nope! They are soliciting applications for an artist residency, and specify that the candidate *must* use AI.

I know more than an average person about the insurance industry, I have consistently insured my dog, and this still happened. I am just glad I called before rushing my dog to an emergency vet.

I also learned that if I had a pre-existing Canadian pet insurance policy and moved back to the US in the future, that policy would not be considered pre-existing coverage by a US pet insurance company due to differences in veterinary laws.

Yeah, I had to call and cancel my policy after speaking to a supervisor.

My dog had a small seizure this morning and then threw up. Not sure if this warrants a vet visit or what caused it.

I did it for my mom last night. Already up 18% from last week for the price per liter at the local pump.

I can't believe I feel the need to go to Costco and stress-purchase bulk items again due to a possibly historic energy crisis after doing this last year due to tariffs (and before many staples went up in price as predicted)

Last night, I got gas for my mom's car. Last time I filled it a week ago, gas was $1.213 Canadian. Last night, it was $1.433. An 18% increase.
