I know, I already put up a post for today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Feeders, but I was looking at my photos from yesterday again and came across these two that together reenact a "spot the differences" thing from Highlights magazine.

In an interview with NBC, Trump adds the US has "totally demolished" Kharg Island - Iran's critical oil export hub - but that "we may hit it a few more times just for fun"

The combination of machismo, stupidity, and outright bloodlust, that finds statements like this funny or impressive is horrifying to me. The Trump cult and all his screening viziers genuinely do not seem to me people one could share a civilised society with.

A farm worker resting of strawberry picking. Her pants are discolored with strawberry stains

The short peak season has begun in the strawberries on CA's Central Coast. In this 9 hour day, "Irma" managed to pick 90 flats or 1,020 of the plastic 1 pint boxes we buy at a supermarket. (A flat holds 12 plastic one pint baskets). She earns $2.20 a flat. #WeFeedYou

“Not only will America go to your country and kill all your people, but what’s worse, I think, is that they’ll come back 20 years later and make a movie about how killing your people made their soldiers feel sad."

McGowan: You're saying 46 Americans died, so we should attack this country. Here at home, 68,000 Americans die a year because they don't have health insurance. So, if we're going to spend billions of dollars on something…

This thread is well worth your time, read the whole thing.

I don't carry on about COVID the way I used to, but I'm still very careful about it—as I know many of you are—and it's because of stories like Jessica's.

Grateful to everyone out there breaking chains of transmission & doing all they can.

I just had virtually the same conversation with my nephew (humanities edition) - he’s graduating college in May and had wanted to go into academia but says it’s totally infeasible with so many departments not taking grad students and funding drying up.

We’re losing an entire generation of scholars.

For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be. A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.

We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.

Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

We deserve SO MUCH BETTER than this from our press and the fact that you have to be terminally online to even have a chance of grasping how complicit and mendacious the headlines being casually tossed around are is REALLY FUCKED UP

They say "The administration has also taken equity stakes in other companies and has a say in the operations of U.S. Steel following a “golden share” agreement with Japan’s Nippon Steel in its takeover."

They don't say "Our government is running a mafia protection money scheme" anywhere.

They call this "the latest transaction involving the nation’s largest businesses."

"Trump took a nearly 10% stake in semiconductor company Intel and has agreed to take a chunk of chip sales to China from Nvidia in exchange for granting export licenses."

They don't say "illegally" anywhere.

This is a maliciously misleading framing. These are not "fees" or "payments" they are "extortions" or "bribes" and it is OUTFUCKINGRAGEOUS that they are being reported like this.

When Israel says their violence is done to protect all Jews and make the world safer for us, we can only look at incidents like this and see that is obviously not true. They’re making it more dangerous for us EVERYWHERE.

New from me: I wrote about last week's SPD report on immigration enforcement delivered in response to a budget SLI. This was one of those city council meetings where I thought it was important for folks to know what was said.

Israeli Journalist Gideon Levy: Israel Will Not Stop Wars & Occupation Until U.S. Pulls Support Inside Israel, “there is no room for any question marks or doubts about this war,” says journalist Gideon Levy, a columnist for Haaretz and a member of the newspaper's editorial board. He says war fever has taken over the country, with polls showing 93...

“Israel is doing as much as it can,” says Gideon Levy about the country’s expanding warfare. “As long as the American support is so massive, so blind and so automatic, this will go on.”

Stop the propaganda. Block this merger.
