Crazy having a conversation that includes these paraphrases:

"Companies are firing people over AI and no one is hiring"
"It's not a sustainable model"
"I'm in the business of selling AI"

From the same person

If your question starts with "Do AIs experience" then the answer is "No"

I think I learned anthropomorphism in middle school. Then there was something about an allegorical cave.

Maybe that seal toy is a better comparison

When will base #RStats be brave enough to allow empty arguments at the end of `c()` and `list()`?

Also, I'm taking suggestions on if this should be pronounced "sind" or "kind". I don't want to keep saying "c-n-d"

This is just the first release. Through this development, I've identified a few more integration ideas that will help with the full cycle of signaling conditions, working with calling handlers, and leveraging some pre-defined condition generators.

The documentation might be where it shines. Following some simple steps, you can create conditions, generate document, and provide help text for _why_ these conditions are signaled, and potentially provide ways to fix/address these issues.

The package resolves around creating 'generators' through 'condition()' -- special functions. These have parameterized messaging and fancier printing. These 'generators' can be found through a linked registry (just from the class names), so we can always trace back to specific objects

{cnd} release – J M Barbone

Alright #RStats, I've a little more excited about this one:

{cnd} is now on CRAN

jmbarbone.github.io/posts/cnd-re...
jmbarbone.github.io/cnd

{cnd} puts a lot more infrastructure around conditions and encourages the use of custom classes and automatic documentation for your users.

Why do I feel like boolean values in databases don't get enough love?

Coding `is_{whatever}` as `0` and `1` doesn't feel right.

If I ask "Is it raining today?" how can you possibly tell me "one"?

But I may have 'accidentally' captured the spirits rack in my the shot

Oof, it was "Deadline: Feb 14th (anywhere on Earth!).", but I guess that still begs the question if I'm a little early or an entire day late

The important part of the screenshot is that the time is "Feb 14 23:57" and the call for talks form is no longer accepting responses

Date times can be rough when programming

@posit.co I know it's at _basically_ at the deadline but I'm sick but I'm pretty sure midnight (Eastern) didn't hit before the form closed. Unless it was midnight last night. Or some other midnight

Sometimes when building a minimal reprex for a bug, you discover that you were the bug all along. I assume this is what Kafka was on about.

#Wikipedia has often been a more up-to-date, reliable resource for news and current events, and provides more direct information than some news sites. The editors are quick to update the important details, which makes dissemination and communicate easy and clear. Don't take this for granted

An important, timely reminder that #Wikipedia is the most popular websites (within top 10 most visited) non-corporate website (hosted by nonprofit #Wikimedia) and relies on public donations and other gifts to operate

I'm doubling my monthly contributions today

Why then are correlation coefficients so attractive?
Only bad reasons seem to come to mind.
Worst of all, probably, is the absence of any need
to think about units for either variable. Given two
perfectly meaningless variables, one is reminded
of their meaninglessness when a regression coefficient
is given, since one wonders how to interpret
its value. A correlation coefficient is less likely to
bring up the unpleasant truthβ€”we think we know
what r = -.7 means. Do we? How often?
Sweeping things under the rug is the enemy of
good data analysis. Often, using the correlation
coefficient is "sweeping under the rug" with a
vengeance. Being so disinterested in our variables
that we do not care about their units can hardly
be desirable.
