Ding is threatening 25…Rxd4. Eliminating the defender of the c2 rook.

In this game I got the honor to crush the Sicilian Sveshnikov with a typical Bxb5 trick!

Good point! Don’t see how to refute that one…

22.11.2024 11:02 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Indeed! And 1…e5 is simply the most principled move. No need for funky/fanzy stuff🙂 (No offense Scandi lovers😉)
22.11.2024 10:44 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes, I think it’s because White is having a c-pawn and thus it’s hard to put pressure on c6. As Rc1 is not hitting c6.
22.11.2024 10:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That’s true. Jumping around from repertoire to repertoire is not the way to go.

22.11.2024 10:31 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes, I understand. I’m on your team haha. Sicilian maybe?😎 In 1.e4 e5 I feel it’s not easy to get “our” type of positions in case White plays Four Knights Scotch
22.11.2024 10:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0More about the typical a7, c7, c6 structure. (Which I came to understand is less weak as I thought at first.)
In the Scotch position below. The best move is Bxd6. Simply keeping the isolated c-pawns. The structure a7, c6, d6 would be (surprisingly?) more vulnerable!
10…Qxe4. You can play on the weak isolated e-pawn (Black can attack with rook on the e-file). I would say Black’s pawn structure is better than White’s. The a7, c7, c6 group is actually not that weak (it’s hard for White to attack). Where is ChessCoach Andras to confirm or debunk my thoughts?☺️
22.11.2024 10:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Even the “dry” middlegame/endgame after Nxe4 Nxc6 Nxc3 Nxd8 Nxd1 Nxf7 Kxf7 is playable for the win. Kasimdzhanov won against a 2430 player: share.chessbase.com/SharedGames/...
