Yeah DS is the same way. The most popular spots are either Reddit or an oldskool forum board. There is one explicitly no-fash group but it’s on Facebook of all things. They technically have a discord but it gets 3 posts a year. This new DS discord has been a breath of fresh air.

(That album, by the way, is Beyond an Age of Wonder. Even now I’m like “is it gauche to promote your work in a thread like this?” but fuck it, this album rules and I’m really happy with how it turned out.)

Low key, this is why I think you should send fan mail to the niche people you love and not huge people. Bts is gonna get thousands of letters, but that soundcloud rapper may go there entire career getting nothing.

Tell your niche favs you love them in a way that is not weird!!

It is my week and I am positively _vibrating_ with excitement to hear people’s thoughts on an album that I am super proud of and I wish had more attention. I’ve also really enjoyed writing about people’s music and I’m thinking of reviving my blog and putting my reviews up there.

I’m in a Dungeon Synth discord and we’ve set up a weekly thing where one of us picks something we wrote and everyone listens to it and talks about it.

Despite having an epic ADHD allergy to “homework” I have felt SO GOOD giving someone’s work a deep listen and then telling about my experience.

It seems like the reviewer wishes TMBG just kept making their first couple of albums over and over again.

To me, the beauty of Mink Car is that it showed TMBG can adopt basically any musical style they feel like and own it and still *be* themselves and make great quirky music.
