The draw of collecting Goosebumps books as a kid was what sustained a comic book collection as a young adult: they’re numbered and numbers mean collection/completion.
So I feel a particular kind of boned when I found out about classic Penguin paperbacks.
It feels like an inevitability.

The kids didn’t like the turkey. They prefer crockpot turkey like we have during thanksgiving.
The pecan pie was really good.
The corn/onion/bell pepper mix simmered in a beer was pretty tasty, too.

Ho ho! A BALMY 1°c here. Perfect day to go get the last mail before Christmas and try to find a wired meat probe! Maybe get some more oats to try thaw cookies again. I think they need either a longer boil or more time with the oats in the hot mix.
0% corn syrup. Can’t wait to see how it tastes tonight.

How much was the probe off? Well, it said it was 138° in my foyer. By the time I threw it away it said it was 159° in my kitchen.
I gotta find a wired probe for tomorrow, though or I’m going to have to stab my turkey with a meat thermometer mid-cook like a savage.
Little snag in the turkey prep: my temperature probe broke and started giving wild readings. At first, cold as expected but then WAY too hot but by then, it was too late.
The bird was a lost cause.
I cleaned out the cooler, got another turkey and a shitload of ice and so far it’s going well.
My cat doesn’t usually watch TV but I guess he’s a Marshall guy.

Big day. I got a 5g cooler in the mail and now my Christmas turkey is thawing/brining in it right now.
This is my first Xmas dinner. Thinking we’ll eat on the 24th so nobody has to cook anything on Xmas.
