The fascinating and alarming reasons for AI Grok’s fascist meltdown Fiddling with the code proves problematic after Elon Musk's AI goes on a tirade.

My new Listener column: why Musk ordering "anti-woke" changes to Grok's prompts likely resulted in his AI product having a fascist meltdown + the alarming prospect of people who control such LLMs exploiting them to alter users' perception of reality. Cheery stuff! www.nzherald.co.nz/the-listener...

The sound of a band both at the peak of their powers and at the point of collapse. Essential.

Oh yeah. One of the greatest things of all time. Funny, moving, mournful, melodic and just plain mad. A perfect record.

Yes, but he lost both elections, so his legacy is pretty hollow. And he was awful with the press, to the extent that even the Guardian turned against him. It really pains me to say this as a Clash fan but he truly was rubbish at doing the actual politics.

Which is remarkable given the size and shape of their majority (admittedly exaggerated by FPP, but that’s the game and Keir’s team won it). It really baffles me how much they have abandoned the people who voted for them so quickly.

The trouble with Corbyn’s message is that it’s about solidarity β€œexcept for” certain people. Most notably the Rainbow community and the people of Ukraine.

Okay just putting it out there …Corbyn has proven time and time again he can’t win FPP elections even with heavy party machinery and even against β€œeasy” opponents (May and Johnson). He also can’t hold parties together. I can’t see this party being anything other than a disaster. @lewsos.bsky.social

One of the great NZ singles and a helluva solo opening gambit for Che Fu. Up there with β€œFrench Letter” as NZ’s best Nuclear Free song.

I'm constantly astounded at the way so many people think that councils and government departments should just be a form of serfdom rather than just normal workplaces. Coffee? Staff trainings? Bereavements? No, not for you!, my taxpayer dollars aren't going on that!

definitely the worst thing about the destruction of mass media and the fragmentation of audiences is political changes that would’ve otherwise been defeated by a media campaign (e.g the government disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of people) just aren’t challenged, let alone won, anymore

I don't like to speak badly of people. I have grown up thinking and being told that if you cannot say something nice about someone, you should not say anything at all. But I must break that rule in this case because I hate Hulk Hogan very much. He is a big ugly goon and I want to squash his face.

Ozzy Osbourne, the people’s Prince of Darkness, took heavy metal into the light Having escaped a life of drudgery in Birmingham, Ozzy became the rare rock frontman you could relate to – and then, against the odds, a national treasure

Colbert will be all right, maybe even better off. The world's his oyster and I'm sure MSNBC and Netflix will come calling. He could stand up the biggest late night YouTube channel in days. But they are just torching the Late Show, an institution, solely to appease a dictator. And that fucking sucks.

David Seymour lashes officials after LINZ becomes latest agency raising concerns about his Regulatory Standards Bill Regulation Minister David Seymour says officials "don't take New Zealanders' rights seriously," after concerns about his bill surfaced from another agency.

It shouldn't need saying but it is unacceptable for the deputy prime minister to be attacking public servants for doing their job. Different agencies providing their expert opinion on Bills is a key step in how issues are identified and sorted before bills become law. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
