There are books that are amazing and yet the query letters are weak and don’t portray that. Therefore the agents can’t tell the books are good and never get to read them. The query letter is like the doorway!

The query letter also led to the 24 requests!

Hi, thank you! It’s a process; the query letter is what leads the agent to the manuscript. If the query letter is weak, many agents don’t proceed to read the manuscript. So it’s a combination of all the factors—letter, first pages, and then the full manuscript. However, it begins with the letter :)
